Simular to the T hinge that i use on old rotten trees. You leave a strip of wood (2-3" wide) at 90 degrees to the hinge uncut. in the middle of the tree, it helps support the tree particularly when they are leaning. I do have a photo but i can not get my phone to download onto the computer.

Looks like yet another cheap advertising stunt by Ekka.

 

Note the full view of name and number during the works!

 

As for the cut, cant see the advantage on that tree. If he had cut a shallower gob, that palm would have gone easily with a conventional fell.

 

The guy will do anything for a bit of attention!

Its old news,he "stole"the idea from me...If you can't understand the principles of it well...who cares!!!

 

Seemed to work well on that palm although not sure on anything else.

 

Works very well on pines and most others,especially if theres a major target to one side of the tree being felled,Part of a basic felling course in the state in from in Aus.
