Cheap, small tractor weights?

Hi all

 

Anyone know where I can get small tractor weights for a compact tractor, ideally cheap?! I need maybe 50 -75kg, and I can only find expensive big weight blocks (500kg ish) meant for much larger tractors. My front tyres are too small to be worth filling with water, and gym type.weights tend to be too.small! Milk bottles full of water wouldn't do it either!

 

Any thoughts or suppliers I could try?

If you're not worried about looks set a couple of hooks (bent over rebar) in concrete?

Just about every agricultural dealer will have a set of weights for sale. Tend to come in 25kg or 50kg leaves. Set of old Massey ferguson weights would do the trick. Try eBay actually.

Concrete could work, not bothered what they look like and ive got some cement somewhere... Will try the spwcilaists mentioned too, I'm already looking on eBay.

 

Thanks paper rustler, where are you? I don't mind if they don't fit my tractor (yanmar ym1600) exactly, happy to fix them.on with cable ties, wire, baler twine etc!

You generally fill them to 70% so 30% air provides the suspension. Put valve at top, unscrew the adapter and use a hose with an air bleed to fill till water spills out of the bleed.

 

You can add calcium chloride as an antifreeze or glycol but you'll lose both if you have a puncture.

 

I just stopped extracting if the weather got too cold.

Old Ford slab weights are what you need, maybe only one or two depending on mass you need.

I bought a same Antares front weight tray, for €30. It weighs a fair bit I think around 30kg, but I can get another 30-40kg of chains etc into it.

My dealer wanted €350 for 5x16kg.

 

I'll probably make something out of a bent pallet fork, which requires less faffing
