Aye, we dont realise how lucky we are sometimes David.

Nice job mate!

Did you "block" the front wheels on the landy?

Yes Mike, the wheels were blocked, we blocked all four wheels is was so slippy, then when we reversed we just put a bit of steering lock on to miss the rear set of blocks :001_smile:

these are the tricks you learn when you have a vehicle and winch too small for the job, that would of been fun if in all the excitement you never put it in gear ha ha.only kidding good job mate, thats why the older winches used to have a slow pull and a fast pull, once it got to 90 oC and the weight was out it you just pulled the fast one to get it down quick.

nothing wrong there, perhaps a big wedge in the back and maybe two wee plastic ones in the side, but no...good fell.

i use a landrover and use the winch heavily,i would open the landrovers door and stand behind it and put the winch thru the hinge. i saw a metal cable snap on a ship once and saw it fly through the air. you could hear it split the air in two. since then i stand behind my door like a wee girlie.
