isnt it strange how there are so many industries heavily regulated and controlled, to be a sparks you HAVE to go NIC, plumbers/gas Its corgi registration, but one of th.. no THE most dangerous and potentialy for the public too, occupations going and it is a bloomin free for all!

utter utter madness, it just dont figure!

Tree works have got to be one of the most regulated jobs going, 10 times more regulated than Corgi gas fitters.

It's only when things go wrong that the chit hits the fan

Doesn't matter how regulated any industry that serves the public is, there will always be customers looking for the cheapest, not the best, and often that is the one without any qualifications or insurance who cuts corners. In the end, unless people know the relevant tradesman and get a better rate that way, you get what you pay for.

When was the last time any one was killed by a poorly pruned tree???????????

People are still dieing from Co2 poisoning due to poorly installed boilers, even with all the legislation.

IMO, the last thing we need is a load more red tape that WE will adhere too (adding to our costs) and the cowboys would just ignore.

More legislation with little or no enforcement, will simply increase the difference in price between the cowboy and the pro, make the cowboy even more attractive to the customers.

If you listen! what I am trying to suggest is that there should not be an option to hire a treeworking individual UNLESS he is registered at a central (government body) recognised level.

it SHOULD be he case that you can only do the job if you was a AAapproved contractor, whilst it doesnt garauntee good standards it does ensure that we are competing on a level playing field and that the Lop and top brigade are excluded

But there needs to be some "assitance" for the small two man band, often these people do the highest standards because its thier business instead of a massive firm cutting costs or finding it difficult to find enough (CP's) to employ resulting in poor work and worse

Unlicensed guns are illegal, it does not stop "criminals" from using them.

Speeding is an offense, bit it still goes on ALL the time.

What is the point of unenforced legislation????????????????????:confused1:

PLUS, I am still waiting for a GOOD argument for making tree work government controlled!!!!!!!!!!!! :001_rolleyes:

nice thought......never going to happen....

in 20 years time, if this forum still exists, the same things going to be being discussed and nothings going to have changed. 50 schemes will have come and gone in the meantime, some will hang around longer than others....all will cost US some money one way or another.

forget everyone else, concentrate on the service YOU provide, thats what i say:001_smile:
