Landrover Trouble...

Top up the oil, disconnect the fuel solinoid on the fuel pump and crank it see if you can find the oil leak. Check the oil supply pipe to the turbo, pipes to oil cooler etc.

disco &defender engines are the same except the turbo and manifold so just take your old one of old engine ,if buying s/h engine just think about a new cam belt change while engine is out of motor.if you need any more help/ info contact me, worked for l/r dealer for7 years.

I swapped my 2.5 n/a for a disco 200tdi lump, apart form the turbo i also had to lengthen the pas and oil cooler pipes, a Disco transfer will fit straight on a defender gearbox it has a slightly different gear ratio tho.

Probably a bit late but think its an oil pump had the same with mine got told its very rare for it to happen to the 200 but i was unfortunately a part of the small percent then two weeks later oil seals went on the turbo hmmm expensive month

Had a mechanic come and look at it today, he said something internal, said the oil pump looked all OK

 

Its a pain... but not overally costly considering... Hoping to get a engine for a maximum of £500 hopefully less, will swap it myself so will save money on that.

 

Then il take my old engine apart and see what was actually wrong, be good to take a landrover engine apart because il probably have to do it again lol

 

Then hopefully build it back up over time, new bits here and there, then il have a spare engine

Got friends with landrover knowledge and experienced people on the end of a phone if need be. Between us we will get it done, part of the reason i bought a landrover was with the aim of doing any maintenance and repairs myself, you only learn one way...
