They dont seem to get the best reviews but having used one the only problem seems to be the oil pot is junk and something better needs sorting

Other than that it drills holes

I havent used others though but i think the biggest thing to check is if the magnets will hold on the steel you wish to use

The thinner the steel, the stronger a magnet is needed, a a cheap mag drill will be OK on thick sections, but need a more expensive one for thinner stuff.

I bought one these ones, a Panther, I think it was.

I suspect the magnet is not one of the best, but it does all I need.

Fed up with using standard drill to drill large holes in steel and trying to brake wrist every time so going to invest in mag drill, anyone use a Evolution mag drill half the price of others on the market.

We had one and whilst I didn't use it the fitters did and it seemed fine, a spring was lost out of the chuck which was no longer available as the design had changed but this was the fault of the fitter rather than the machine. I see I bought the part from the later machine and made it fit last August. Evolution are good for spares generally, I have the mitre saw and the circular saw.

Go for a rota broach mag drill exellent bit of kit that will take a battering.

I've used an Evolution drill for years and it hasn't let me down. As long as your drills are sharp it's totally fine.

You can get an adapter to go in a pillar drill to take rotobroach drills and adjust the speed belts accordingly. Not done so myself, it's a cheaper option if you don't need the portability or magnet.
