Ash are late

Ash are always later in leaf than other trees. It's the way of the world. As to th question, yes . Can't remember her name but she's recorded the date her oak has come into leaf for the last 50 years. She got an. MBE or similar.

 

And she's a member on here? :001_huh:

For recording when her tree came into leaf? These Honours really are getting worthless!

Round here Ash is always last to leaf and first to drop.

 

It's always amazed me how fast growing they are, considering they spend so long leafless.

 

Beech, Aesculus and Sycamore ahead here, followed by Oak and then Ash.

Ash is flowering, but no leaves.

Actually I saw one today, thought "sh1t that's dead, ... no wait...."

 

I read somewhere that Ash opens its leaves dependent upon temperature and Oak dependent upon day length.

That would make Oak open its leaves roughly the same time each year.
