If you do short trips isn't it cheaper to run a petrol equivalent? I think that's what I heard someone mention.

Such as? Only petrol single cab pickups I could find were yank monsters that would not fit in our lanes. We have changed to a petrol car after 20 years of driving diesels.

um, errr.... well, errr, um.... not alotta choice is there!

Hopefully the manufacturers are reading this.

 

Maybe dirty diesel arb trucks don't count in this particular scrappage scheme?

 

I reckon they'll be putting up the price of diesel soon enough as well. Extra incentive to change.

Diesel Pollution !!

 

Get a phone call to look at a job ( could be any job )

Visit the Job .......................................................20 mile

Drive home.........................................................20 mile

Quote the job by phone or email............................0 mile

2 teams of lads go to do the job.............................40 mile

2 teams go home.................................................40 mile

2 teams for a 2nd day...........................................40 mile

2 teams finish & go home early..............................40 mile

Total mileage for 6 lads home to yard ( 2 days ).......170 mile

Pop to the local dealer to get the 1 saw repaired.......40 mile

Take the invoice...................................................20 mile

Come home..........................................................28 mile ( collected food )

 

Total mileage for 1 job = 458 mile

 

Drive a back hoe digger to the job -

with drums of diesel, saw & tools in the front bucket..20 mile ( on red diesel )

Drive home..........................................................20 mile

 

Total mileage for 1 job = 40 mile

Plus 20 gallons of red diesel to start the fire

( Invoice was paid in cash )

 

First example took 6 men & the second took 1 man, With all this talk of diesel pollution how long until fires are band ?? :001_rolleyes:
