Hi it sound like the 461 is all round a better choice.

The Elec carb problem, I have been looking on fr jones are these ok or not.?

is this the "Compensator" that is on the Specs..?

And what is the issue with the Elec carb? I'v not heard of it before

thanks for your responses I'm quite taken by the idea I could try out milling

with a new bigger better saw, takes the sting out of losing one.

The lo pro set ups now are really pretty superb for milling. They will allow you at least another 6" over and above what is said to be the max length bar.

Will the oiler work on a 30" bar?

I agree. Stay away from the 441. I do find it runs up to 25" bar fine but the electronic carb is tiresome and issues with not oiling.

Get a 461 before they update them.

The 440/441, 460/461 and 660/661 all share the same oil pump if I am not mistaken, and the pump can be upgraded to the "high output model" for about £70 or the equivalent euros/dollars. I upgraded mine, it does pump more bar oil, empties the oil tank about the same time as the petrol tank, whereas before it was about half.

We had oil pump problems with the 441 we had but never on the 461's , dunno if we have high output pumps or not ? The 461's are the saws we all fight to grab first .

From what I understand, the 440/441 range are a cutters saw, heavy flywheel & faster pickup for limbing etc. The 460/461 are more of a crosscuting saw - different balance & power delivery. Both do there jobs very well imho
