1 day guarantee that the fence won't fall over or if something has happened that is obviously my fault . which is rare

a fencing company that used to supply to me gave no guarantee for supply or fit

I don't see why I would give one when they do not !

Nothing in writing but we have had one call back about 6 months after installation as a panel was no longer snug (concrete posts) had a look at the postfix had crumbled. No idea why as the rest were fine but took it out and redid it for free

On removals I always guarantee the tree will no longer be there and thats a money back, cast iron guaranty

Lost a quoted job recently, concrete posts, gravel boards, close boarded panels - was asked what guarantee I'd give. I replied it depends on how often the customers treat the panels and with what. Posts, gravel boards and 22" of concrete won't fail.

Total surprise! "What, the panels need treating? Aren't they already treated?"

I explained that just as a timber front door will need painting, fences need treating.

One of the other quotes gave a 20 year guarantee including panels.

No one can put a genuine guarantee on and actually be there to rectify rotting panels for 20 years.

Quite glad to not get this one

It just goes to show how many variables there are. I feel that if there is a problem with the materials, the issue should be taken up with the manufacturers but with the workmanship how far do you go, 12 months, 2 years?

I know someone who put a fence up a few months before Doris struck and it blew the panels out, should he have had to replace them or is that just extreme weather? I personally would have replaced them as reputation is an important thing for me

Wouldn't you end up with a huge backlog of unpaid work after every storm?

Lifelong guarantee or till I reach the first bend in the road, whichever comes first. No quibbles, can't stand 'em the furry little beggars.
