    Boxer skid steer opinions

Boxer UK have gone as we used to know it - luckily! Steel Viper are now the Uk agents and actually understand what customer service is and are able to get parts for all boxers. Not sure how many machines they stock but pretty sure they have most models here already.

the future for food, farming and the environment

As a new farmer I hope that subsidies end in their current form. At the moment they cost every take payer £50 per week but there's no way they make food any cheaper. The majority of the money all ends up in big estates. It's a closed game as well as you need to buy "entitlements" for each acre of land you own to be able to claim subsidies. I went to and interesting NFU conference about global food security and it said that by 2050 the world will need 50% more food than it produces now to feed the growing population and they estimate that only an additional 5% of land could be used for agriculture. So really the only way to feed people will be through efficiency.

    Stolen and recovered Boxer loader

Not quite that easy. They cut through the Ukpn power supply to disable Cctv then used a disc cutter to cut through two big security gates!

    SIA- the tree pulling test/theory

I've always used windfinder, but I believe the new version has an anemometer. The software that comes with it is straight forward to use with a bit of practice

    SIA- the tree pulling test/theory

I would think both in terms of effort and accuracy. We just screw 2 sensors to the tree, 1 at ground level and 1 around 2m and leave during a windy spell to compare results. We've got 6 sensors so normally do a few near by as comparison. You can then see how much the root plate moves.

    SIA- the tree pulling test/theory

Would a tree motion sensor of been a better idea to test the stability of the root plate?

    Employee RSI injury

    Employee RSI injury

Situation: I have an employee who has been on a performance improvement plan after becoming lazy and in effective for a few months. He pulled his socks up and was working back to his normal standard. Today a month later he has arrived with a doctors note saying he has an RSI injury from using power tools. ( sore wrist, arm, shoulder, knee on one side ) sounded more like a stroke to me. Anyway the advice is to limit using power tools for a month. As an Employer I obviously need him working however if it is an actual RSI injury then surely no power tools would be the best way to recover. however if he's at work then he becomes a spare part as a climber who can't use a power tool so maybe best off sick until fit to carry out his job. Has anyone experience with this sort of situation?
