I'm sorry I started this thread.

VAT is probably the worst thing to happen to this country since Inheritance Tax.

And Strictly Come Dancing.

I agree which is why I replied. I dont see why we or anyone else should have to pay VAT on any of our PPE not just boots and helmets.

But since you did.....

How about VAT on food, have you tried deciphering that??

I can't get any sense from HMRC webpage, the accountants or the retailer!

Nobody seems to have the first idea if I am, should or shouldn't be paying (and reclaiming) VAT on my lunchtime McNasty (pasty)....

The worry of it all gives me indigestion! Either it's the McNasty, or the thought of losing out on a possible rebate....

Can't be sure for sure 🤔

When I was registered I was subjected to an inspection that took 3 months and me delivering and collecting a box full of all my records down to their local office in Hastings.

The result was I owed them the VAT back I had claimed on a copy of FHM and and a packet of Marlboro Lights which I recklessly included on a £70 diesel receipt.

Fellow taxpayers I can only apologise for my transgression.

It was me or Google.
