Just skimming through this shower of ****, i don't understand how you can be forced to pay towards somebody's pension as well as paying them a wage?

Automatically opted in so if my employee does not want to pay into the scheme i then have to pay the accountant to faff with paperwork to opt me out :sneaky2:

By 2019 employee pays in 4% of qualifying earnings, employer 3% and the government....1% wtf!!!!!

From the irritating adverts I hear on the radio and the idiotic TV advert, if you employ anyone, you have to offer them a workplace pension. I haven't read any detail but believe you have to initially, as an employer, have to pay 1% which rises year on year. "NEST" is mentioned as is stakeholder!

Personally - I fully understand the need to do this, most people make no provision for their old age until they hit middle age and by then it is too late to put together a sensible sum.

And for the record, A £100,000 pension pot = £5,000 Annual income whilst still keeping up with the rate of inflation and pensions are taxable after the initial tax allowance.

And lastly - the government give tax relief on pension payments so if you pay in £10k after tax, they give you £2k based on the typical 20% rate of tax or simply don't tax you on payments in to your pension depending on how you do it.

A lot off THE prob is too many folk live for today.& give sod all thought about tmro.folk have to be responsible for there own future not rely on a hand out from others:001_smile:

How does someone think about tomorrow if they are on a zero hours contract, remembering that not everyone has the ability to earn good coin?

We will pay for it in the end........

Its bollocks! if you want something you go and earn it! you don't sit on your arse waiting for hand me outs! too many folk living beyond their means then ending up with nowt!

Ive had a pension since i was 16 and have always put savings away. because i have a decent business that has being built up through my own hard work determination and a lot of sacrifice its ok for me to financially support others in their old age? what a piss poor country we are slowly becoming.
