Fair do's it was a long while ago i watched it. It was released before the spider jack 3 didnt do great though so maybe thats caused a change of heart. It seems daft anyway. :-(

Hold on if it is ART throwing a spanner in the works why the hell are they launching a new rope guide that can be used for both SRT and DRT? They may have just shot themselves in the foot if these speculations are true.

Pure speculation on my cynical behalf ... I'm only again speculating that ART , treeimagineers, tuefelberger , petzl and DMM the big players in the arb climbing industry have no SRT products and have no plans as far as I'm aware on offering any either, ... just makes sense to me that the kind of climbers who would of used products like the spider jack mostly have switched from dirt rope technique to SRT so its killed the market for a lot of there devices and tools... I'm just guessing you would do something about it if you could?

Ahh sorry Marty, I should have read a little better as opposed to scanning over it.

You may well be right but from looking at some of the products coming out on these DRT companies it looks like a few of them my be admitting defeat and looking in to SRT.

The whole situation does seem strange.

The new spider jack has a built in brake and a few other safety features so would of cost a lot more developing but I'm sure was predominantly built for the anal German market as in Germany it always has been the case that you can't climb on anything that's not CE marked and as you can't CE mark your hitch a lot of companies force there workers to use zig zags and spider jacks ect anyway... haha no worries mate.

We have just established that the rope wrench is a climbing aid and therefore does not require CE approval. If by some misfortune the rope wrench were to fail your hitch would hold you. So as long as your hitch cord was CE marked you should be ok to use the wrench no?

This is of course rhetorical. As I am sure the ban is just an exercise in petty bureaucracy.

Thought A.R.T did have some sort of S.R.T device.

Check out at around 8.30 mins pretty sure it's some sort of device I've seen before but it's hard to make out.

How many of you guys use RADs I wonder? - where you're hanging from a gri-gri with a hand ascender and pulley combo up ahead. When tie-in point is reached, the ascender can be left there, and you can then limb walk on something very much like a DDRT system with the gri-gri replacing the zigzag?
