Sorry, nothing overly constructive to add but we are having deer fencing, to protect against roe and muntjac, installed later this year so I'll be interested to see what is recommended. Our installer is planning to use 3m metal posts (appx 1m in the ground), spring strainers (tensioned somehow), 13 lines of 2.0mm wire (3 earth and 10 conductive) and an M1200i energiser.

What sort of deer as that will depict height required.

Also, are you trying to keep them in or out?

To be honest it's more for security as it going around a small woodland at a school and I'm not even sure there is any deer! But anyway they have asked for a 6ft stock net type fence. I was just seeing if there is any other technique to erecting it other than what we would normally do with stock net! Other than buy a bigger strainer bar! 😉

The taller the better, Roe can jump "at least 6ft" or will try and get themselves caught up in it. Will post some pics later we had 1500 metres installed wrong height, spent days rounding up deer 3 at a time who jumped over, ended up shooting them in the end when they got caught in the fence sadly.

In the old days they made deer leaps to let deer into a park and not out, I did the same for a 5ha plantation but built the ramp at one corner so I could drive the odd roe out.

Think I'd have another chat with your installer as deer have hollow hair so it won't conduct electricity.

Hope I've saved you a few quid!
