Rats!!!!!

The best shooting I ever done was going to a farmer's yard and shooting rats. The rats were living under shipping containers, someone used a telehandler to lift the containers up and the rest of us shot the rats.

 

It always makes me chuckle how people spend thousands shooting grouse and deer while shooting vermin is the most enjoyable shooting there is imho.

Rat haunch or rat sausages doesn't have the same appeal as venison.

 

I get your point though, makes you wonder if anyone could turn it into a paid for sport.

Yes Felix it is, although I also use 'kill it' bait which is also deadly, or if I have my Browning 725 when it's safe around the straw stacks,I blow them to hell with that.

 

Good to hear it lives on. I saw one on Guntrader the other day and thought about it for a minute.

Had a 9mm garden gun for a bit but preferred the .410

I have both a .410 and a 9mm. If it's just for dispatching rats in a trap then the 9mm will be ideal - they put out about 100ftlb at the muzzle and are no louder than an unmoderated air rifle. But they're next to useless at anything above 10 yards. A .410 is a better option if you're wanting something with more clout - but obviously they're a lot louder. Ammo for the .410 is half the price of the 9mm as well.

We had an epidemic of rats a few years back. We set a live rabbit trap near to where the cows fed. Sometimes you could have 3 or 4 at once. They were so aggressive that they would chew the barrel of the air rifle. Soon sorts them out when you pull the trigger!!!

Yes they are much easier they don't move nearly as quickly. 😀

I've done quite a bit of work in the landfill sites I've seen the lads playing golf with them ,you end up with bits of rats everywhere its minging
