First pick up truck- advice needed

I fancied a 3lt auto , Presuming it would tow better but I knew the history of this one and it's a 2.5 manual . I intend to have or remapped for mor torque.

They're not perfect , I ran defenders for 15 years and one of the things I miss about them is low box for reversing a loaded trailer.

With the Ranger ,low box means 4 wheel drive which isn't good on hard surfaces.

Apart from that , good truck.

Pinkers, there is a mod you can carry out to enable 2L on a Ranger as someone posted up details very recently on how to do it. I got the 2L option on my antique Isuzu by simply fitting manual free wheeling hubs up front.

Hi all

Can anyone recommend a pick up with good pedigree.

First truck and don't wanna get new but looking around £5k

I'd be grateful for any other advice to help me know what characteristics I'm looking for in a good truck (engine size, single or twin, off road effectiveness etc)

Thanks in advance

Steve

Got 2 3.0 wildtraks...tipper conversion 2007 for work and a 2008 for best..both fab trucks...before I had rear camera fitted sometimes I had to stop to check if my chipper was still on the back.lol it pulls great and flies at 70mph with a 750kg Chipper on and a load of chip...dont know why anyone would want anything else.

Blanked off mine and removed the cat/DPF ( not sure what it was ) from my D22 and it goes a bit better and is a little bit more economical and has passed 3x MOT so far .

I find winding up the diesel pump as far as possible, without causing problem, certainly made a difference. No smoke no poke!! Wound it back for mot.
