Bad news with Boxer

To be pedantic, there is no such thing as CE approval...

Manufacturers Can declare CE conformity, meaning they reckon it meets all the relevant specs and regs, but there is no test, no approving body etc.

So if that's the case why are none being imported .

A far as I'm aware they can't just put a CE mark on items, they have it tested to ensure it meets the standard.

I'm also sure we would be in very serious trouble if we were selling certain items not CE approved.

I'm with Rover on this one, a person who puts a product on the market is required to prepare a technical file showing how the machine conforms with all of the legal requirements to achieve CE marking. He then issues a certificate of conformity, as far as I can see no other bodies need to be involved.

I thought a specialist broker/agent can do this for you, but I'm no expert. But it does cost and it's a bit of a faff. I know my pto chipper had to be altered from the American original design. Including an extension tray for the hopper which I took off not long after I'd got it because branches hooked it up and was a nuisance.

Just saying & yes I know insurance, h&s blah blah.

Someone was recently fined a fair chunk for selling or trying to sell an imported machine that did not have a valid certificate of conformity! I would look for an alternative that does meet all the compliance regs.

Shame though, I thought that the Boxer was a good tool when were the importer for a while and Cliff Perks is a good chap!

I am surprised Boxer uk sold any machines my experience with their customer service was really bad! Ive exchanged a few emails with a Vermeer rep with regards to their S725Tx & S800TX both look decent machines on paper log grab seems a bit pricey.

There are products (category 3 PPE for example) that I am fairly sure require inspection from an external body plus continuous testing hence why you will see CE XXXX on a lot of hardware X being a four digit number to show it has been externally tested.

Sorry to derail the thread.
