Because I could tell you were regurgitating dogma with little relevance to what tree guys in the private (or public sector) do.

It sure is, it's an oak, and you have a 30' garden.
Always try and educate, and walk away from the really heinous requests.

As an experienced climber and now surveyor running my own gig what do I need to do to become a "tree guy"? Top trees and call it a reduction?

The attitude that 'the customer is always right', & 'if I don't do it someone else will'. 

 

Then after that ' take the money and run'. You'll then be a tree guy.

 

I've had the same 'discussions' with the same people for several years.
