Unfortunately with his Big beautiful Bill that's passing through the system just now, there are cuts to services such as Medicare (usually used by the poorest) and some tax rises (prediction is anyone earning under $50k will see tax rises this year), but these cuts are offset by tax cuts (for the richest), with the predicted net difference being 3.6 trillion added to their national debt over 10 years.

I don't think you can have an efficiency drive and cut taxes simultaneously to reduce debts. What you can do is refinance and kick the debt to be repaid a few years in the future, long after your time in office is over and long enough for that generation to forget whose politics added to the debts in the first place.

I am sceptical though how much of the efficiency drive is creating efficiencies in the system and how much is a vindictive drive to cut that Trump doesn't like or has an argument with. That is not creating efficiency, they are government cuts.

This is based upon your extensive experience and knowledge of running a multi million pound/dollar business or just the musings of a bored anonymous government office worker?

Gotta remember the Barnett formula, he's got more to piss up the wall than the rest of the UK.

My comment was based on the extensive experience and knowledge of US analysists who have looked at the bill in detail, assessed the numbers and come to a conclusion. I don't think any of them were bored anonymous government office workers, I suspect that with all of Trumps U turns those analysists who work for the US government are living in busy and exciting times. Though I did read a few sources and they were all coming to the same conclusions, poorer get poorer, rich get richer, US debt gets larger.

So the US had its Memorial day holiday yesterday, remembering the soldiers who died in the wars.

The Tool, Trumpy, Twatters: "Happy Memorial Day". Not sure it is the sentiment I would use in a day of remembrance, but it did make me wonder if he is actually aware of the real world.

In reality Memorial day is largely a BBQ/ Family pizz up.

Well it was when I lived there anyhow.

It's not the solum day of reflection that it is in the UK or NZ

Get a life or possibly try and sort out your own area’s problems.
You ever worked in the US or Europe SP ?

Maybe try local government or volunteer schemes, you seem to be in possession of a lot of the qualities required for such activities.

Neither. Though it was common sense from the perspective of successful governance, so it would be more likely to be the musings of a government worker.

This is one of the (many) problems with the current Potus. Extensive business experience and knowledge of running down a multi million dollar business, doesn't make him a good person to run a government and a country. On the contrary. It was obviously never going to work if he just focused on the bottom line, (profits and perks for himself and a few rich elites), to the detriment of the actual hardworking people and their welfare. Add to that the character of a crazy egotist and narcissist and you get the expected slow motion car crash that we see unfolding before our eyes. Anyone who thinks Mr Trump is a servant of the people is bewitched or just confused.
