Just heard the other day - they've discovered a chemical in Jap Knotweed roots that could be the next panacea: cardio protective, anti cancer, anti ageing, weight loss etc etc.

Lots of bracken about but if it starts being harvested commercially, will it regrow every year?

I think it would, the stuff Ive cut always comes back,

My thoughts exactly. Once you've got it, it takes money, money, time and money to get rid of it. Pigs are great in a small area but large scale... well you'd need a lot of pigs and a lot of fencing.

As to it taking lots of machinery to get it to the end product. To produce wood pellets takes maybe the same. If they can make money from it then why not. But if it can only be because of subsidy, then I don't see much point.

The machinery being used looked to be contractors in all fairness as had they're name and number on the tractors and baler. Must be expensive drying and pressing into the blocks though

Drying and pressing with the right machines is not an expensive process.

Buying the right machines to dry and press the material is very expensive.
