If you cant afford it, simple answer is dont do it! If you boiler was faulty would you try fix it yourself? guess not then. Look on the net and do a bit of resaerch on accidents over the years from "weekend warriors" then make a desision. If you have to work off a ladder the tree is above your limits. Leave tree work to professionals and keep your health.

Your skint!! you will be even more skint if you end up falling off the ladder breaking your back and you cant work, get a pro in mate.

And if you are phoning for a quote dont open the conversation with "im skint" that maybe why no one seems interested in felling it, there are a lot of overheads to cover for a professional firm and we cant work for free. Best of luck.

Yes it can blow up in the fire, thats how eucs spread their seed, they depend on forest fires.

Sounds like a 200 pound job tops. Get someone in and it will take you longer to make the tea and the whole thing will be gone, instead of 2 days worth of hard work which still leave you with a pile of logs and debris to deal with.

But, I fixed my boiler when it went bust! I went on a plumbers forum and got told to get a professional in!! I also got advice and went for it. New PCB installed and its been fine since! But the time I spent on it could have been better spent doing tree work which would have easily paid for a plumber to fix it.

http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/members-only/10634-sorting-out-little-diy-problem.html dare i say anymore? It not worth it mate, get a pro in.

When you say "they dont seem interested" do you just mean you dont want to pay the amount they have quoted. I know tree work is quiet around here and companys wouldnt be turning away work.

I'd be cautious just felling it, may have a big spread plus it's overhanging other gardens and I certainly wouldn't quote 200 squids on a tree I aint seen. How about posting some pictures and members can gove you some realistic quotes and if your still adiment on felling it your self we can give you advice on what your likely to hit on the way down lol.

best of luck Hat McCulloch..
