  1. Past hour
  2. You don't need forced air fans on modern DEFRA approved stoves, that's why they're made with refractory stuff to burn hotter and vaporise the smoke, effectively a low rent pyrolysis as most are 5kw or less. It's also why they're not designed to slumber because it just falls too low temperature wise.
  3. Well a good pyrolysis boiler goes to 1200 Celsius, so vaporisers absolutely anything flammable, leaving pretty much next to nothing.
  4. Agreed - definitely a lapsed Hornbeam pollard. I'm lucky enough to have lots (50+) of them (pictures if anyone wants some ?). Occasionally they fall over, at which point they do indeed make excellent firewood (more calorific than Oak, I think) and it dries relatively quickly but .... it is notoriously hard especially when dried. I always make sure it's ringed up asap.
  5. Not everyone has room for a boiler room or can afford to install an eco angus. I would just like there to be a middle ground between a £500 stove and a £5k eco angus. Modern stoves burn hotter and harder than older ones, but don't yet incorporate fans. Maybe stoves could include fans that are located outside which then pipe the air inside. Current policy seems to push everyone to electric heating/hot water/cooking, which puts pressure on the grid and generation and is not great in rural areas that suffer from power cuts.
  6. Welcome to.think what you'd like , but why do you think it doesn't happen then? After oil gets squeezed and compressed it gets hot , with no way to cool down, same happens in diggers . Would you drive a car for a 100 miles without coolant or a radiator?
  7. Im quite well of what the timber goes for and what happens to it the difference is filters, temperatures and a bottom ash. What do you think happens to the bottom ash then ?
  8. I laughed.
  9. Today
  10. I don't know if oil is still formed under an ocean, my old boss was sure as much oil was formed as was currently used, he was a successful entrepreneur so must be right. We do know that coal was formed at a specific time in earth's history when tree like plants were growing and had evolved lignin to stiffen up their structures to grow tall but before a microbe to digest lignin had evolved. It was a good thread and I wanted to post more but unfortunately the first shot was fired by someone who has not learned and it was from my side of the political spectrum.
  11. Contributions as in plural 👍👍open forum lad. Ask mark J if you are so interested in the use of the word “ conclusion “ Must be some exciting day you lead. Maybe pop down to HMS Calliope and get the brass cleaned, place was a shithole last time I was there.
  12. From memory I think 10litre will do around 250 trees if you are spraying a metre square with a medium flow nozzle.
  13. Yes I think if the earth can turn leaves and dead fish into oil and coal (with time, heat and pressure) then surely it can do the same with plastics that are halfway there as they are. Fungi - a thing on the TV last night, they can do something with some of them to make an equivalent to wood, takes about a month to grow the fungi, rather than 30 for trees, they are our friends, and not just for breakfast.
  14. That conversation had nothing to do with you, if I were you I'd check out what the word "conclusion" means and how it is used.
  15. Sounds like more to the story. Vaguely passed it in yesterdays new I think.... suspect they went in mob handed because she has a history with kicking off at the police.
  16. They aren't designed to be a poncy room feature, they're designed to burn hot and hard and store the heating efficiently out of sight. That's partly why back boilers were stopped, it can't burn clean just ticking along slowly.
  17. Where is the fun in that. If only eco angus made a nice looking indoor version with a glass door and a quieter fan!
  18. more to come too, new album in new year. The Damned official page, · The Damned would proudly like to announce the release of a new studio album titled “Not Like Everybody Else”. The LP is a tribute to the late Brian James and each tune has been chosen because they were by artists that had an impact on Brians guitar playing and in turn his songwriting and in turn the Damned as a band. The album is made up of 10 tracks which we recorded in just 5 days at the end of a hectic US tour, which made the timing perfect - we were in exactly the right frame of mind to give it our all. Dave Vanian, Paul Gray and Captain Sensible were joined in the studio by Rat Scabies, who hadn’t sat on the Damned drum throne for 30 years and what a difference he makes. “Not Like Everybody Else” also has an irony not to be missed as track 10 is the encore that we recorded at Hammersmith Apollo on 29 October 2022 and is a live version of “This Could Be The Last Time” which sadly it was, as it was the very last time Brian played on stage with the Damned. Pre-save now: https://damned.lnk.to/NotLikeEverybodyElsePR The first single to be released on 30th October is R Dean Taylor’s classic “There’s A Ghost In My House” delivered with the unmistakable energy and dark charm that the Damned do so well.
  19. I have just read about Elizabeth Kinney and how she was arrested in the bath by 11 police officers for what she said in a private text message. I genuinely would like to know if there is another side to this story as it seems too preposterous to be real. Here is the link. Not sure it is going to work but you can google her name. Access Restricted WWW.DAILYMAIL.CO.UK I am always suspicious of someone who looks like that as clearly she places a vast importance on how she looks and enjoys sharing how she looks (or how AI makes her look). But in a nutshell this is the story: An acquaintance and her fell out and she ended up in hospital when he assaulted her. She then ranted by text message and amongst other things called him a faggot. 11 police officers came into her house without warning (all but one male) and arrested her whilst she was having a bath. They told her she could get 5 to 10 years in jail for a hate crime. In sentencing the magistrates handed out an uplifted sentence due to the 'homophobic' content. None of the messages were even read out in court. Surely the police don't send 11 police officers to arrerst someone for hurty words said in private when they usually don't bother to attend actual burglary or shoplifting.....?????
  20. Primary school looking for donations of woodchip and logs for our play areas to enhance our children's playtimes. Please ring or email before arrival.
  21. Brilliant, that's going on my/my son's Christmas list. Thanks. We made lots of things like that as children, but I don't remember ever seeing a book of ideas.
  22. Or just build a boiler room for a eco Angus 18/25kw and relax with 90% efficiency instead of it mostly being wasted.
  23. I like your thinking here. So the new plan is: we all, alongsides our friends the fungi, set about devouring as much plastic as we can, before Alzheimer's sets in. We then take it six feet down with us when to depart, to leave a clean world for our children. Worth a shot I suppose. My brother once suggested that we could bury all the plastics deep underground, to one day revert back to something akin to crude oil and coal. That still seems like a sensible idea to me. It's got more legs than trying to pretend that we're recycling it, which is in reality just a mugs game.
  24. I don’t know but nor do I need to know. It’s not for one man to visualise the future or for one central power to try to dictate it. I am appalled at the authoritarian mess that is the present. I’d take my chances with a defunded state and a future that therefore evolves more naturally.
  25. Christ SP hardly through the bloody door at what’s supposedly your “ work” and your online. Are you not capable of doing a full days uninterrupted graft lad. You are taking a wage off the taxpayers at least make half an effort to earn it. Seeing as you are skiving online, good to see the pressure is on for some justice finally for the victims of the grooming gangs. I see one girl whom was passed around a group of 10 Pakistani men in Glasgow and another trafficked up from Bradford for a similar group of individuals have both had the guts to speak up. Surely you must condemn such behaviour and admire the bravery of those girls whom have had to fight hard to get recognition from those leftards terrified of upsetting the racial apple cart.
  26. With the contributions you’ve made you’d have been better off not bothering coming in. Your incontinence pants leak during the night or did you just wake up in a bad fettle.
  27. Yep. Think it was in Berry's Book of Cunning Contraptions along with Go karts and candle powered boats.
