You know that and I know that, but lots of the enquiries were from Peterborough - in the city they don't know anything about trees and don't know neighbours to ask for a recommendation. Problem is bark do a good job of appearing on Google search. Ideally we'd all pay Steve a few quid to make a central tree surgeon index which does well on Google and everyone's info is written by another tree firm so is brutally honest. "Climbs slower than a three legged tortoise but makes a nice reduction nonetheless" type of thing.

Or just put it in gift bags and leave them in the foyer for the audience to take home, maybe with a charity collection box next to it.

I havn't used stovax, but have used three other 'eco design' stoves that have been utter s**** - hard to light and smokey. Ive posted on this topic here before. The problem (as I see it) is that these stoves are designed to divert/restrict exhaust so it recirculates and re-burns the gases within the stove repeatedly. These is also less control of air going in. These stoves need very exact operating conditions - airflow in the room, flue length/straightness/temperature. They may work fine in a new airtight house (that is warm already) with a perfectly straight/lined and insulated flue, but conditions in older properties are much more variable. Give me big old Charnwood or Clearview anyday. These stoves have massive air intakes that can make them roar like a steam train on lighting. Yes more heat goes up the chimney and you use more wood, but it doesn't smoke into the room.

Horse chestnut or sweet chestnut? Either way, if you save it up then list it in car boot sized loads free on gumtree or Facebook I should think people would collect it. They certainly would down here, may be a bit different in London?

spent a couple of days at the Warrenpoint Blues festival with the Groundhogs after TS had gone, they had an American guitar player with them (good but no Tony) nice couple of guys, plenty of tales and Guiness.

I can honestly say Stovax stoves are the worst. I have owned and used over 8 wood burners and the Stovax Stockton 11 has give us so much trouble, smoking every single time we want to reload it. A friend of mine gets a small trailer load of " slab wood " or sometimes called " scab wood " for about £40 from a local saw mill .

We have a client down the end of the road with this on a chestnut, I explained and said it needs to come out (pink chestnut) its still alive now, similar size, canopy healthy..its in there garden so they opted to leave it until it had to come out !

Couple years ago I needed a training teee for my son. I posted in the local Facebook group offering a free inspection in exchange for access to climb a decent sized tree and was inundated with messages. you could make the suggestion that you are doing coursework for college and part of this involves inspecting trees, aerial cavities, structure etc…..obviously an informal inspection with no work recommendations.

I had some bags of loggets which were sawmill slabwood that had been chunked with a branch logger and they burned well, a bit tedious feeding the fire but okay.
