  1. Past hour
  2. Cut off the ripped limb to minimise the bark peeling off, as that will only make it worse. Theres not much you can do for rot, perhaps get as much of the soil out as you can. Looks like a very substantial part of the tree ripped out. Do you have a photo of the rest? Apple trees are very commonly in bad shape, most I have seen are rotten.
  3. I strongly suspect an element of tongue-in-cheek with that remark. As log burners become the must have fashion, the stuff folk were happy to dispose of for free has become a valuable commodity. Round here, ready to burn logs are £165 per cubic metre, so the DIY version must now have a value.
  4. I once drove to Birmingham and the guy didn't show. His client wasn't too impressed either. It mainly meant I had an extra day at the APF but I'm still going to kill him one day. Changed terms immediately.
  5. Not since my inherited graphite spray can lost its propellant. I also have a huge tub of Rocol Moly disulphide tho I wouldnt put that on or near climbing kit, just incase it reacts in some unexpected way.
  6. It goes both ways, I used to supply 40yrd hook bins ,grab lorry's, skips ...for tree surgeons to load foc...we weren't picky on timber ...yet they still wanted beer tokens on top of haulage costs.. Then running a yard. Considering most tree surgeons have no yard ,no tip site, have to pay charges to dump chip or timber ...and they allready have been paid for a job.. ud think they'd be greatful to offload it onto someone ...
  7. I was in the shed earlier, having a miserable time looking for a chuck key (that turned up in the dining room obviously) but a lovely time blowing things clean. Got thinking what the highest priority tools in there are. I think setting up another I'd start with a bin, then a compressor, then a bench. It's that important.
  8. In my ( usually ) night time occupation, as a Mobile DJ, because of events along the lines of those described above, it's becoming the norm among Professional DJ's to issue a contract stating that full payment will be made possibly a fortnight before the event, or they're not loading up the van to even set off. Every time someone posts on Facebook/Forums that they've been stiffed for their previously agreed wages, these folk point out that such terms and conditions preclude this possibility. Some things are paid for in advance, others not.
  9. Today
  10. Not having much luck at the moment Pete.

  12. I was off out in the toy car and thought "I really ought to get roadside cover and a spare that would for either front or back". Then got a puncture 300 yards from home! The tyre is glued to the rim to prevent it slipping under power so will be a bugger to get off and the side wall may be trashed!

    Logs

Think the confusion lies in the wording. To me they're only logs when they've been processed to a size for stove/fireplace, until they've been processed it is timber or unprocessed arisings. Suspect that as the OP has a registered tip site they mean timber or arisings. People regularly get unprocessed arisings from us, either collecting themselves from site or we will tip a load (to suit us) in return for free/eggs/veg/refreshments/pocket money etc. Has to be said, the chicken people with abundant free range eggs to offer and the community market garden charity with beautiful veg for us are our first thought when we have something they'd like.
  14. Seems VDL and the EU came running when he snapped his fingers.
  15. A tarmac drive way yes but its too light for tarmac
  16. Two legends of rock, Lemmy came from Burslem, Ozzy was a frequent visitor back in the day. Not my picture.
  17. I thought free logs were a thing a few years ago (10?) Talking fresh, unsplit logs.. has the market changed then?
  18. Democrats have collapsed: The US Democratic Party rating has reached a 30-year low — Wall Street Journal ▪️The approval rating of the US Democratic Party has dropped to its lowest level in the past 30 years. This is reported by the WSJ citing its own poll. ▪️According to the data, 63% of voters have a negative view of the Democrats, while only 33% have a positive view. For comparison, the negative perception rating of the Republican Party exceeds the positive by only 11%, and for Trump by 7%. ▪️Only 8% of Americans described the DNC as "very positive," whereas the figure for Republicans is more than twice as high (19%) ▪️WSJ adds that despite criticism of Trump on issues of the economy, inflation, tariffs, and foreign policy, voters trust Republicans more than Democrats on all these topics ▪️Democrats maintain an advantage in only 2/10 areas: healthcare and vaccination. According to sociologist John Anzalone, the DNC has lost so much trust that it is unable to be an effective opposition.
  19. Les dear boy, it will be signed off (electrical wise), then, and only then will he get his dollar. I'm fairly sure that with years of experience the job is sound.
