Pete, I've been meaning to ask you. What was the purpose of shortening the truck? I'm guessing weights and classifications etc. but what classification was it/ is it now?

 

Also, did it need to be shortened in order to allow for the weight of the crane? Or am i barking upt the wrong street? ( I would say tree, but thats silly)

Here's the bigger timber from the same tree. These pieces were between 4 and 7 feet in diameter, so it was off with the grapple and on with the hook and slings. Some of the bigger sections I stood up for the carver to work on them upright.

 

The bigger sections weighed in at between 2.5 and 3 tonnes. Maximum capacity for the crane really,
