Which saw for these requirements?

I'm sure this question has been asked a million times but everyone has different specifications.

So what should I be looking for?

I prefer Stihl to Husqvarna, but only really for the brand image, so I could be swayed to Husky.

Want something for firewood work really, but powerful enough to run a 20"+ bar with an Alaskan Mill I'm hoping to build.

Got about £300 to spend. More than happy with second hand, not afraid of a project either, I'm quite happy up to my wrists in piston rings etc.

I'd rather a used beast than a brand new weaker saw I think.

I'd like something that's modernish. I have an 010 from the 80s and I'd like something a bit newer I think.

I also like the small, single handed saws so I could also be tempted with something like that.

What do you guys rate?

Cheers,

Gaz

Let it go Stubs, it's been over 6 years now, it's over!

if going 2nd hand you might be able to find an older husky 372.

I'd save a bit more and buy a new 365xt though, best value for money saw out there. about £400.

Where can you get a new 365xt for £400 in UK ? F.R.Jones is cheapest I've seen at £483 with no bar and chain or World of Power Buxton £523.59 with the 20" the OP is interested in.
