Oregon Supersaw chain oil

Just thought I'd let everybody know, I bought a 25 drum of Oregon oil from a company called Rye Oil Ltd through Amazon. The oil arrived on Saturday and I opened the box to find a drum of oil with a Rye Oil label on it and nothing to suggest it was Oregon oil.

I rang Rye Oil this morning to say I think I'd been sent the wrong oil and they told me I was wrong and that it said in the item description that the oil came in their own packaging and they decant the Oregon oil into their own drums. I told him it was like selling Heinz ketchup in a Branston bottle.

I then spoke to Oregon who said, in no uncertain terms, Rye Oil is not a stockist of theirs and if it's not in Oregon packaging it's not their oil.

Do not buy oil from Rye Oil.

Hi Andy I am sorry you have had an issue with our product. To be honest I do not have a lot to do with the online sales, and my colleague assures me that it says in the description that the oil we sell is not Oregon but Rye Oil Mineral Chain Oil. The way Amazon list products is very confusing and they actually make it quite hard for companies to sell products that are their own label, you need bar codes etc.

A full refund has been offered. But if you use the oil I think you will be more than satisfied. If you want I can point you in the direction of some people who use or products and can tell you what they think of them.

Any further problems ring me at the office.

Sorry for any confusion

Jon

This is probably something to look at, it is confusing. If you add it to your basket it says it is supplied by Rye oils.

I have got the guy who does the online stuff looking at some of these postings, and hopefully clearing up the confusing ones. We do not sell Oregon products so not quite sure why it was listed as that in the first place.

I'm not saying there's anything wrong with the product, I've not used it yet but I'm sure it's fine. As has been said, chain oil is chain oil. I am however annoyed at the fact that I thought I was buying Oregon oil not Rye oils equivalent. The listing has now been changed on amazon to prevent any further confusion but initially the item description was the description off oregons website.

I appreciate the offer of a refund but I can't afford to send it back and buy another one as I need the oil for work this week.

I am, however, now slightly more confused as to why, if as you have categorically stated you do not sell Oregon products, the gentleman I spoke to on the phone confirmed a number of times that it was Oregon oil inside the drum. All seems a bit suspicious to me if I'm honest.
