You're not far off with the cost. We (with another team subbed in for it) do it annually and have done for several years now. The hedge was established and well kept before the houses were built so it's not too bad really, just a few bare areas. It used to be the perimeter of the head office of a whisky manufacturer so always been trimmed annually.

Morning all. Glad to see Friday, been on the biggest connie hedge trim I've seen this week. All round a housing estate, four days with 9/10 people and yesterday was hot and wet with too much hedgewalking, miserable. Someone said earlier it reminds them of "that awkward moment, after weeks in their bedroom practicing, your teenage daughter proudly shows you what she's choreographed and you wonder if she's having a fit and when the dancing actually starts". For me the funnier bit was an interview later where the Australian team defended her by sending out the Chef de Mission to say she deserves credit for having a go.

Dearly beloved, as we gather here today, some more wearily than others, the sense resides within me that the good Lord, our Father in Heaven, would wish us to show understanding to our fellow man. Indeed, when we consider Ephesians 4:32, it would seem incumbent upon us to make allowance for the vagaries of our fellow travellers through life's difficulties. It is most appropriate, on the day that our Lord gave us his creation, we should lift his sentiment high above our heads and show others by example, the good and righteous path. Amen. Donations will be received in the vestry following the service, and I trust I'll see you all on Wednesday afternoon for the charity spelling bee marathon.

Feeling a bit of pressure this morning. Have the sense it's got to be a decent result to keep morale up, but then Navvy opens with a two! Pre wordle nerves are building.

Morning all. Seems no time since I first picked up William from nursery. His mum (a good friend and my boss at the time) had a meeting go on too long and I went to get him. Was buzzed through the main door and found myself in an 'airlock' between two doors where I was informed I'd stay until they could speak to her and confirm I was meant to take the child. I was there a while, William waving through the window "are we going to the river Doug?", "can we get ice cream". Eventually I was released, got him, then his big sister, then we got ice cream and water pistols and went to the river. Yesterday he gave me a run in his car, we picked up a sofa with the trailer for his new flat, and he told me about his electrical engineering apprenticeship. Was one of those days when you realise how much time has got behind you. Kayaking undecided as yet. She's cooking a big breakfast for some friends and we'll see how we feel later.
