  1. Isuzu d-max arctic AT35? With a back on obviously.
  2. [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23] was just a thought. Not much out there with 3.5t towing weights now a days really cos the stupid f*~k#^g emissions laws. Be interesting to see what ya settle on though [emoji106] I’m having a navara v6 end of this year hopefully if i get my tasks at home done and my piggy bank fills back up enough. If not then defo next year, be 2nd hand though not new.
  3. Rangers are known rot boxes, the engine g/box and axles tend to outlast everything else. You will find a good one here and there but the price tag will come with it, i.e ex-m.o.d or park ranger vans, coastguard etc in remote stations that dont do big milage and are often tucked away on a daily basis in a garage and dry stored. You’ll just have to spend a bit of time looking and probably make several visits to places to look at em, but one will turn up. Some mint low milage navaras come up like what Stubby had every now and then. Just avoid anything with rust on body, heavy corrosion to chassis, visible oil leaks and mega high mileage. Few and far between obviously, but you do get em [emoji106][emoji106]
  4. Mitsubishi shogun BigJ? They are rated at 3.5t towing weight. Last years model is better looking than this years, and theres probably still some new old stock ones hiding in dealerships around the country.
  5. Cant play it TT, says video unavailable
  6. Ring a lease company, see whats coming back in [emoji106]
  7. [emoji15][emoji15][emoji15] hell fire, its a practically new one then at that amount of brass! Contact a lease company and enquire / look to buy something thats coming back in off a two year deal. Massive database so they’ll be able to practically narrow you down / find your exact spec.
  8. Stretch ur budget to £2500 and pick up the cleanest hilux ya can. Rear tubs can be scabby but its realistically a plate up, fill and spray job at a couple hundred quid if your bothered. Check chassis and tub mounts to chassis, if thats all good then theyre pretty much bomb proof.
  9. Landcruiser all day long, forget the discovery, too unreliable!
  10. Some interesting reading https://us.autologic.com/news/bmw-vanos-system
  11. Vanos repairs at that age of vehicle will probably be uneconomical, unless it has big sentimental values etc. I’m not up on vanos to be honest, so cant really advise unfortunately. My current BMW 3.0L has vanos fitted, but is shoehorned under my dashboard as they decided to reposition it on the B series engine, so if it does decide to act the goat then it’ll be back to the dealer me thinks.
  12. Batteries can cause issues, but i’ve just gone bk over the thread again to refresh my memory, and remembered now, you bought it with a ongoing fault. We get a fair few engine / diagnostic issues at work that can lead you down the garden path when you start to diagnose, and battery voltages can often be the cause. But we’re on 24v (two battery) systems. But with a car, one battery / bad cell can cause the issues. Single 12v car battery would probably show up more significantly i.e battery light etc
  13. You had to jump start it? Could be a temporary voltage issue causing fault code and bad running till battery is back up to norm.
  14. They are classed as home owner saws, the 290 you have is basically a larger version of the ones mentioned above. If your wanting a pro saw then your probably looking at something like a 240.
  15. Looks like a man up a tree that pedro
  16. As Jonny69 states mattyf, any 46 hyd oil will do. Just up to you if you want to stray away from oem specs. I’m a bit anal with stuff like this and prefer to stay with recommended.
  17. If you cross reference to mobil dte 10 excel 46 which is the equivalent, its still more expensive than shell. How often will you be changing the oil? Might be worth buying 60L to reduce your cost and storing 30L for next time. I’ll keep digging.
  18. Shell tellus 46 hydraulic oil, but its been superseded to shell tellus s2 mx46, page 6 item 6 in spec sheet below. Oil capacity suggests 30L on page 22 section 6 https://www.avantmachinery.shop/documents/catalog/objects/PDFNL/avant-500-series-1-operators-manual-english.pdf
  19. I love rigger boots, prefer the freedom of movement. I think a chainsaw protection version would be great for ground based arb guys/gals, be no good to a climber though obviously.
  20. The MS290 (029) is just shy of 6kg, a MS210/MS230 is roughly 4.6kg and a MS170/MS180 is roughly 4.2kg. You’ll find a tidy one for under £200 no bother. I have the older versions of each apart from the 170. I’d go with 180 (018) or 210 (021) personally.
  21. Am i reading right..... No you want a top handle? Think you might struggle finding a solid tidy one at £200 (stihl) you might av to be nearer £250. They go real quick when they come up. Where you based? Sure most and myself included will keep our eyes peeled [emoji106]
