  1. Hi all, I'm looking to do my self assesment from last year- my accountant has disappeared of the face of the earth so I'm looking to do it myself, I need to know about my vehicle going through, I bought my ranger inside last years tax year, its bread and butter of my business, not used for personal use, I paid 6k for it, but been told i can only put through 18% not the full value, I've been saving up every week by calculating my tax and holding it in an account, my income was 30,842 (ive rounded it up a tad to make the sums easier to 31) spent 13k in fuel, saws, insurance and the like, online my tax bill is coming up at 6k, which is more than I'd saved? I was using an online tax calculator and have put the required amount away every time I've been paid, it said I should be paying around 3000- 2k for last year and 1000 payment on account ready for next year. I was under the impression of 31,000 take away 11850 tax free allowance, and dividing the remainder by 5 for my tax bill, it's my first year so I'm not that clued up. I know this is more of an accountant problem and not arbtalk, I'm just looking for some advice off anyone who does their own books. Many thaks
  2. Cheers, looking at ash and birch so hopefully that'll work.
  3. Hi all, the mrs wants some rings to put candles etc on for our wedding in Oct. Just wondering what the best plan is regarding cutting and drying, should I cut them asap and store them in the garage etc or cut them just before the day and not dry them out? I dont want them cracking so what's the best plan? Cheers
  4. I'd go for some 3x2 timber uprights, 12/18mm ply on top if the alloy sides. Attach ply to frame and bolt and washer through the metal sides. Cut a piece of ply that can cover the head board but you can take out if needed, just lean it up to protect the glass. Some timber frame to make a roof and use another piece of ply, extra precaution use a ratchet strap. I'd imagine you can get that sorted for 100 quid.
  5. I use buxtons (treehog) bollard, cost me 190 quid, takes 14mm rope, comes with bag and 2 ratchet straps, has rubber pads on the back so a good all rounder for lowering whilst retaining trees, on a dismantle, just notch it in. It maybe cheaper or more expensive than others, I'm not sure on the whole specs all I can say is the bollard is only good when someone runs it well. All the best with the self employment [emoji106]
  6. Could you give me abit of your knowledge about the stop bar? To stop the rollers, does it sort of lock into a tab and you release it with the red handle on the side? It works brilliantly I just don't understand the set up thats all
  7. Hi all, i maybe interested as someone I know is looking to sell, has anyone any experience/ feedback on the above chipper? 2007 model, performs well, cosmetically tidy apart from a bit of damage to the fibre glass top presumably by being pushed by hand against the corner, only thing I can see at fault is brake damper as it does shunt hard when you brake abit hard hes asking 4.5k no vat. Cant be certain of the hours as clock reads 366 hrs but its 2007 Cheers
  8. All in, dug out, teram membrane, mot, flag edging and waste away pal
  9. I've had a price for 55 per sqm but that was approx 100 sqm Steve
  10. I get you, so say a natural crotch or a redirect then work the outsides of the canopy? As for the course, I would like to go on a workshop or a reccy climb srt. Cheers
  11. Hi all, I'm interested in switching to srt, I am just wondering if anyone who uses it could give me some answers and opinions. I currently use ddrt with a zigzag, but I cant really get my head around the concept when it comes to working the tree. I get the massive benefit of ascent, but I'm abit clueless with working around the canopy, do you have to clip back into your ascenders etc to move up? It my seem a dumb question, maybe abit of a faff rather than just coming back in from a branch walk and pulling up etc? I wouldn't mind trying a foot/knee ascender ddrt (I'm quite interested in the stein knee setup) for those after lunch/throwline setups, can anyone give me any pointers? Thanks
  12. I picked up the 365 this morning and in comparison to the ms291 in my other hand it was only marginally heavier, imo the best saw I've ever used/chucked about was a 261
  13. It's a 365 x torq 70.7cc. Cheers
  14. 365 bought [emoji108] thanks
  15. And apologies for this thread again, I've just noticed the 362 v 562 thread
  16. Hi, I'm after a medium sized ground/chogging saw, ideally running a 20" bar and occasionally a 24" ( on bigger stems when a couple of us are ringing up) Price bracket around 600 quid, I'm drawn between the above 2, 365 slightly heavier, but no auto tune, 562 newer tech but lighter. Apparently both can pull 20,24" bars, not quite 28" what the husq specs say, but I've a 66 for that stuff. Anyone got any opinions Thanks
  17. I'd go for the 94, it'll take abit more stick, due to the solid drive shaft as opposed to the flexi in the 56, it's a different machine for little extra money (in my local dealer)
  18. I'd personally borrow from the bank the intended amount, interest is usually (I haven't looked at any figures) less than that of finance, and you own it outright, you can usually overpay without penalty, so if you have a good period, hammer the loan away
  19. Possibly a young inexperienced lad. Must have been against the clock or peer pressured into that surely? Hope he recovers soon
  20. Wolverhampton area. Midnight Tuesday 12/12/18 Stihl km94 s/n- 513428417 New style head with scabbard Old style head with crack in normal place and scabbard too big (off hs45) Thanks
  21. I use a sequoia, and just clip to the bridge.you can buy spare rings but never have.
  22. Always take a spare crab and prussik up with you, set one high main anchor and leave it there. On big spreads, to help you get out on skinny limbs, use the other end of your rope, tie a bowline in the end and set prussik, set it above you and back each one off till your where you want to be. I some times use a 8m strop and switch it to my bridge instead of d's.
  23. Hi all, As we know, our kit is forever getting stolen, is there any kind if tracker/locator that can be installed into a saw etc that can be used with a kind of find my iPhone app? Cheers
  24. Hi forestboy, tbh I've skipped to the end of the pages, how are you getting on with the trees? I've seen some posts and pictures of the trees, broken chair etc would it be worth getting someone in to sort this out for You, granted you will take a hit, but job done safely and you can tick it off the list. Not being an arse just saying from what I've read, and frankly havent got time to go through 42 pages. It may just be too big for you at the minute Cheers
