  1. I'd be happy to travel 30 miles tbh. I'd like the variation. Things get expensive when I'd have to pay for digs etc. I'd have to price them in or have them arranged
  2. I'll wait and see what happens on Wednesday. It'll go one of two ways! Many thanks
  3. True, but wouldn't a rigging ticket be classed as a necessity?
  4. I'm just trying to find a happy medium. I'm not qualified to rig, I think when you hit 150+ your expected to be ticketed up to that standard. More discussions with employer arranged for Wed evening
  5. Exactly why I'm asking 120. As said in first post I'm not the usain bolt of climbers, I'm not qualified to rig, or have my own lowering kit so I can't expect top dollar. But I'm technical, the other week for example, Scots pine at the bottom of a 3 tier garden, timber left at bottom of tree as asked. All brash speedlined to driveway to chipper. 4 man job, 2 went off to do a trimming job me and another lad stayed. All down tidied by 3 no problem. Boss was impressed, did say sometimes quicker to drag as opposed to unclipping slings all the time, but Labour was saved and enabled us to get on another job for a parish. I probs could do a bloody lot. It's just kit limitation here too
  6. I've priced his work in his absence for 4 years and never sidelined a job. Even the quick 40 quid ones where i could ram a tonne bag in the boot of my car. Everyone else is self employed, there's a 40 y/o groundie with 1 years experience and no tickets on 85. My question is though. What do you other class as a "Good" climber. I know its should be a practical demo but wgat do you guys look for? Thanks
  7. Very true. Looks like another meeting needs arranging
  8. I think it's a big part of me being scared of change. My whole working life has been paye. But I'm worth what I'm asking. I don't mean or want to sound big headed at all, I'm not that kind of lad. The big part worrying me of leaving is what I may call my best could be another company's average, if that makes sense.
  9. Morning all, yes currently 90 per day paye. I will still be here 5 days per week (I know that's not the way it should be) apparently he just won't pay that. He pays our other climber 80 ground and 100 aerial. But openly admits he's not very good. Which he isn't (pole saw up a tree rather than get out on em) We have just moved in to our first home with mortgage so ok there, and for as long as I've been here the subbys have had 5 days per week. Partner keeps saying dont sell yourself short etc but it's 10 mins away and pretty much guaranteed. Just to add i Also I bring my own climbing kit and saw Many thanks
  10. Hi all. I have been employed paye in my current position for 6 years, and at the end of this month will be going self employed but sort of staying there and doing my own bits. I have been in talks with boss regarding wages etc but we have reached a stalemate ( as you were all expecting with this post) about me 6 yrs arb experience 3 yrs climbing Pricing of work when boss away (90% approval rate) The "In house mechanic" Only climber of 2 who can rig, prune (to a good standard) Hedge cutting no problem ladders/ getting in hedges Climbing kit/saws I may not be the usain bolt of climbers but I consider myself good. You can leave me with a new lad on his first day and you know the job will get done well. I'm asking 120 a day. Currently on 90 Been told no unfortunately. 3 hour discussion the other night got nowhere, and I feel like I'm going round in circles, I'm in the Wolverhampton area. Am I being fair with this price or not? Many thanks
