  1. I don't want to sack him. I want him to either stay or leave but if he stays then don't be malcontent and don't give me shit for not paying him enough when terms were agreed and have even increased his wage 2 months ago. Just fucking leave and stop busting my ass or stay and shut up and do his job. He's a self entitled little twerp.
  2. Well I wasn't going to phone him to confirm his wage calculation for the month at 8.30am on a Saturday morning so it started with a text and continued thus...
  3. He gets £12.14 per hour plus 22 days holiday and all tips and has to get to mine which is 2 miles or the yard which is 500 yards from his house and gets a lift in and out to work from either of those places. He also gets paid for a full day if we finish early and there is nothing to do which happens a fair bit.
  4. Had this convo. He wont budge on it. Even took him for 2 driving lessons personally. Don't have time atm. Wroking 60-80 hour weeks.
  5. yeah exactly. He wants more money but wont learn to drive. I can't train him or justify training if he wont drive so i cna't pay him more money. So then leave. But don't break my balls about it. The convo has been had.
  6. Was doing wage calculations this morning for the guys to get off to accountant with plenty of time. Sent one a text confirming calcs were right and letting him know when to be at the yard Tuesday morning. Got a text back telling me that he made calcs £5 less but he'll take it as I don't pay him enough and moaned about me waking him up. I obviously replied that I don't make him go to work. He chooses to. And not to give me shit about it. If he doesn't want to work for agreed pay then don't work. Very simple. He turned it round saying if that's what I want and I don't appreciate him etc. So I said NO, I'm saying we agree a rate of pay for you to work. You don't like it, you don't have to work. If he wants to earn more then learn to drive. Until then, as explained before, there is nothing more I can do with him so man up. He then said some BS about coming from a guy who can't do simple maths. To which I said, ENOUGH, I added a fiver onto your half day rate on a day this month as a courtesy, stop being a child. Give me your decision by the end of the day. This is all fresh and I know what to do really but can anyone else see this from any other perspective than mine? I'm flabbergasted really. I'm think along the lines of tell him to take a month off or firing him outright but not sure where I stand legally. No disciplinary has been done. Really I see no other route than firing or he'll rot out the apple cart but in some ways he's quite an easy chap to get along with and a steady reliable worker. Maybe tell him to take a month off and I'll find someone part time. Still, again, legality?
  7. Not sure I know what I think about him. Seems to be who is actually is though at least, which is something I guess.
  8. I saw a fox with only 3 functioning legs scale a fence once. Was impressed.
  9. Thanks guys. Yeah I was aware of them but things didn't go as planned. Had a few teething problems with new equipment. I left that little notch up there to fix a line to help guide the fell. Didn't want to hit my fencing panels. Was a bit scared on those spikes. Only 2nd time ever doing it.
  10. My first proper dismantle and chog down today. Had to be a brief gap in the sunshine for heavy rain and wind all day of course.... Wasn't comfortable cos haven't climbed in a month but got into the swing of it. Didn't do the whole thing as had a 45 degree of space it could be felled so felled remaining into that. All went well apart from the rain and wind
  11. You and I know that's a good argument whilst being bullshit at the same time.
  12. Does the rape of children by brown men from another part of the world who are often called Mohammad become less of a thing if the person who shines light on it is self interested?? Who actually gives a fuck why he latched on to it? Jesus christ man consider your bias and the reality it's weighted against..
  13. How exactly do you jeopardise court proceedings by asking a person how they feel about their guilty verdict just prior to sentencing? Give me a break.
  14. There is no deterrent any more. When I worked in Horfield prison about 15 years ago, it was then a CAT A prison, I found it on the whole to be quite a relaxed easy going environment. I don't believe in capital punishment, well, perhaps with a few exceptions, but HARD labour should definitely be re instated.
  15. You certain you could do that exact job 1000 times and walk away?
  16. Incalculable if you ask me. My life is worth more than that....
  17. I don't see how it's any of their business. If you charged what you quoted for then what difference does it make to them if they are happy with the work. They have paid for the job, your time on it, your intellectually property, your dead hours running a business doing god knows what for no money, bank charges, the electricity used to run the pc, printer ink, advertising and marketing, insurance, vehicle maintenance, tyre wear and tear, machinery, depreciation of investments, training, etcetera.... Tell him to do one.
  18. Why? You just take up too much time going round in circles. I've explained myself to hell. Figure it out.
  19. Nope! What I literally wrote is... 'A bit of a blag is a bit of a blag. Everyone's done it. Paying someone £40 so they have no incentive to not screw the system is low. It screws them, it screws the tax payer, it screws other competing companies who NEED to charge more. There is no upside or positive thing you can say about the logic of it. ' As most people could appreciate, I am making a distinction between a bit of a blag, which everyone has done, and the issue that I'm discussing taking exception to. I have far less problem with someone blagging the dole as I do with someone using another persons disadvantageous situation to unethically advance their own position, at the "literal" disadvantage to all other members of society. To hammer my point.... When in desperate times people do desperate things, and they justify them in all sorts of ways. This employer is not desperate, yet he exploits others who for whatever reason are not so fortunate.
  20. I've not done it! I see what you've done there.. A bit of a blag is a big of a blag. It implies by the wording its temporary status. One would not infer it to be extorting those less fortunate on a long term basis so don't give me the hypocrisy BS cos one thing is not the other and you know it.
  21. Not really. A bit of a blag is a bit of a blag. Everyone's done it. Paying someone £40 so they have no incentive to not screw the system is low. It screws them, it screws the tax payer, it screws other competing companies who NEED to charge more. There is no upside or positive thing you can say about the logic of it. I think it's low. Anyone who thinks different can kiss my horses ass. It's at the perfect height!
  22. Yeah. Benefits will be giving circa 30 per day so he's getting £350 ish per week in a roundabout way. He could sign off dole and get a proper job with just about anyone and be in no worse situation even after tax. Then what'll happen is Jwood will have to either employ someone else for actual money and eat the loss or up his rates to make the same and in the process be less likely of screwing the competition who do things legally, properly and fairly. Honestly there is no way of painting this so he doesn't look like a bit of a low life. That's the brutal truth of it.
