Timberwolf has both 24hp and 35hp in diesel on the TW230

Currently looking Timberwolf TW230 or a Greenmech Arb130 or Arb150 Road Tow.... Mainly Diesel Engine Versions.... At the moment

With the TW230.. Appears to be a bit shorter than the Greenmech... But could you not detach the chipper (Wheel Clamp it) and turn it 90˚ and then spin the discharge shoot back to the truck? Then you running brash straight out the the in-feed?

Looking at possibly getting my first proper chipper which will be a big step for me. So I am currently looking at a Timberwolf TW230 or a Greenmech Arb130 or Arb150 (all options will be the road tow versions). I would be interested in people’s options who have used both brands of the chippers I am looking at or if you just run one of them. I would like to hear about ease of use, ease of access when there is an issue, reliability, build quality, and general opinions good or bad.

Which Sena kit have you got?

I am after peoples recommendations for Climbing Helmet & Intercom Systems.... Current there is a mix of helmets (Petzl Husky & 3M Helmets) So What are you guys recommending - Do you chuck it all in for a Protos Helmet and Intercom Kit? - Go down the 3M Helmet route and their Intercom Kit? - Stick with our current helmets and get a Sena Duel 10s kit and mess about fitting them into the helmets? - Are the Sena Kits any good? Anyone able to give some Pro's & Con's for each system and any advice?

No not really... The bits are only a couple of quid to replace... So might as well do it properly.. If I can find out how it comes apart

I would get them NPTC qualified as this will prove, meet HSE PEWER regs, and meet employee insurance needs. If you train them and they injure themselves they could blame your training. You would obviously have to give some orientation training to your own equipment..

Does anyone know how you can get the Drive Belt Tension Adjuster Bolt & Pulley Spindle Bolt (Link through each other) out of the enclosed frame work so that I can replace them both? Because it looks bolts are sealed within the frame work of the chipper body. The Adjuster Bolt is a M10 x 100 Eye Bolt (Part Number: 910100EB) The Pulley Spindle Bolt is a M10 x 80mm (Part Number: 91080) that feeds through the Adjuster Bolt..

On the point of 'Why you have not used a MEWP'.... Would a justifiable reason be I am qualified to climb, but I am not qualified on all MEWP options and the use of a chainsaw from a MEWP? As there is only so many course/qualifications you can afford to undertake... I am waiting on those courses and saving to undertake them. I therefore did not want to undertake an activity (using a MEWP) that I was not trained.

Just done my Aerial Pruning Course the other week and their understanding and interpretation of the regs to meet NPTC Qualification is that two of your three systems have to reach the ground...

I was wondering if big CC Chainsaws that are larger than 90cc (ie Stihl ms880) are thing of the past or will new models ever come out again soon? I am sure that the manufactures are struggling with emissions and I wonder if the EU has killed of a much needed piece of equipment?

Your thinking of it wrong... When working you will have three points of connection. 2x rope systems and a lanyard. The reason you must have 2x ropes that meet the ground is because if something goes wrong that this often multiplies the problem. Lets say your cutting and there is an unexpected incident and the chainsaw kicks back due to an unexpected event (Branch snaps and kicks back suddenly while at full chat) and in the heat of the moment a secondary issue happens... You you cut your main line and yourself. You are now in the tree bleeding and with no rope to the ground while stuck on a lanyard and only one arm to sort the problem out. It becomes a very bad day at the office. With the two lines & Lanyard. You should be working with all three system active. and only moving with a minimum of two active systems connected and the third must be attached before another can be released. There is a good chance that you will only cut one line. The lanyard holds you in place with support from the second main line. The first line is useless, so you can detach that, un-hook your lanyard and still lower your self down with your one good arm. The use of say a long CE Lanyard as a second line system only meets the regs if it can reach the ground from the height point being climbed..

It would be interesting to understand the cost financially on this. From a quick read of this thread... If I am correct.... An estimate was requested for a specific task and this task seems to have changed. Was there any complication as a result? 4x hours work has become 8x hours but there are now two reports... Is there much more detail and variation in the two reports? 4x hours could be easily swallowed up especially dealing with local authorities... Especially in the current situation... I did a tree felling job, did all the relevant checks for TPO, Conservation and planning issues and it came back ok to fell... The day after the tree was felled the local authority emailed me saying that the tree can't be felled.. I had to break the bad news to them and said I had it in writing from them two week prior that I could go ahead. But chasing this all up and doing the paper work took longer than climbing and felling the tree. I think your first port of call is to have a friendly chat and ask why there is a difference in the price estimated and what has been charge. View it with an open mind before forming an opinion.

Thought I would try out a knee ascender and got a ‘Systeme 3A Knee Ascender’... (as pictured). I had that on the left leg and my CT Foot Ascender on my right. Ok I know it would probably works better with SRT, but I thought I would I would try it anyway as I thought it would be good when used with the zigzag 2019. But I didn’t get on with it at all. In the end I opted to just use the foot ascender and a hand ascender. Anyone on here got the Systeme 3A Knee Ascender and how did you get on with it?

Who's Entry Level Tracked 6" Chipper Would Buy and Why?

I have always been an Apple Mac user and love them.... I have used them since 1993. In that time I have tried pc'c on three occasions: 1) High End Sony PC Laptop.. (Had a great screen but was a nightmare and I gave it away within 6x months and went back to Mac). 2) Had a Dell PC to run business software that was only available on a pc.... (Again it was a nightmare as it was alway having issues and was slow. Again I gave it away). 3) Works Desktop (Always needed tech attention). I have always been happy with the Apple Products and back up. I won't buy anything else.

Would the following comply with the ICoP? 1x Rope used in DRT 1x Wire Flip Line (4m) 1x CE Lanyard (10-to-20m Rope Lanyard) The CE Lanyard would to be used for better: 1) Work positioning assistance, 2) Second climbing rope for short stages 3) As a second tie-in for two point security when you are releasing the main climbing rope for repositioning? Would this system be an acceptable system in the eyes of ICoP? Thank you for your advice...

Hi Paul Thanks for that..... Most helpful... A quick question.... Can you give us any clarification on if there is any validity on the comments?... "I have been told (and it might just be a load of rubbish) that the ICoP Double Rope and third system (ie flipline) is being re thought out because there have been issues in the double rope aspect being applied to a working environment and that as a result of issues being raised HSE is back tracking on some aspects".
