  1. I have been very please with my Ranger 3.2 Wildtrak.. It has been a far better towing vehicle than the Izusu 2.5. and I really hate the Izusu 1.9. as a towing vehicle on welsh hills. The problem with a lot of the new small engine vehicles is that they are reliant on turbos to wring the neck out of the engines to get the torque out of the engine. I don't see them lasting like a bigger engine with natural torque will.
  2. The 592xp manual states that there is 18", 20", 24", 28", 30", 32", & 36" bars all running 3/8" chain, 1.5mm gauge, Type Husqvarna C85 Chain. Husquvarna_592_XP_Manual.pdf
  3. I gather that it is listed that there will be a 32” bar for it as well
  4. I was wondering if anyone managed to have a go on a Husqvarna 592 xp yet? I know they had them on demo at Honey Brothers and Hayes Machinery has a demo unit... If anyone has had a go, what's your thoughts on it?
  5. The 592xp was because it was new and I need one of that size. but the 562xp was what I was after advice on.
  6. Yep… sure have. It’s going to be like Christmas 🤣🤣 I have a Husquvana 592xp on order for the tree surgery side of the business. Plus I will be getting a Husquvana 562xp for forestry. Which will be backed up by my Dolmar 6100 a second saw.
  7. Whats the best option for bashing in wedges when felling (for Arb & Forestry). I know people use Axes with a hammer top edge and also lump or sledge hammers? Any recommendation or steer clear of options?
  8. You can get the spares, it is just not a quick process.
  9. Not some much a question of being up to the job. I have been very impressed with both the Dolmar 6100 & 7910… but if I get into forestry work for the winter period when the another work is quieter. Then I will need a saw or saw combo that has back up and easy access to parts. The Dolmars are a great reliable chainsaws and for the prices I have paid. They are awesome. But if I am going to be flat out on a contract, then I can’t afford for a saw to go down on me and not be back on the quickly, and access to parts would be a much slower process. Normally that wouldn’t be an issue. So I would plan on the Dolmars being my back up.
  10. The 560xp is on a smaller bar mount and runs .325 chain the 562xp is on a bigger bar mount and 3/8” chain other than that the saw is basically the same
  11. Thanks for all the advice so far: Are there any know issues of reliability on the following saws? You hear rumours and it sounds like no saw is immune from problems: Husky 560xp Husky 562xp Husky 572xp Stihl MS500i
  12. Thanks for your reply... What would you advise out of the 560 (on .325 chain) or 562 (on 3/8" chain).. and what bar length would you go for out of the 18" or 20" bar? (I am tall, so would a 20" be better when sending?).. And what is your thoughts on a 560/562 60cc Chainsaw over a 572 70cc chainsaw? Would the 572 be far more than you would need, or is the extra weight an issue?
  13. Thanks for your reply... The answer is I don't know and guess that it will be a mix of all... Soft & and some hard wood. Along with some thinning, but I guess that more often it would be final crop clearance.
  14. What chainsaws are people using for working on forestry timber felling in the UK? The reason for asking is because, although I am qualified for doing that line of work, I am only just going to be getting some real world experience. I am hoping that once I have some experience, it will possibly be going to add to my winter income stream when the other elements of my work quieten down. (I am located in Wales and would guess that is where I would be doing some of this sort of work) So I am after some advice as to what combination of cc chain saws & bar lengths tend to be the main stay for normal daily work (For both Husky & Stihl).. IE 60cc or 70cc (and what bar length you use on them) for the main saw and how often are you using 90cc or bigger? All advice is welcome
  15. Thanks for your well thought out response to my original posting... I should point out that it is not just the smaller trees, much bigger Mountain Ash (Rowan) are also in the same situation in this area. The trees pictured are just the ones on my site.
  16. Looking for a bit of advice. I have a number of sites a do the grounds maintenance for. They have a number of Mountain Ash Trees (Rowan Trees) that have the signs of having Ash Die-back. But from everything I am reading Mountain Ash Trees (Rowan Trees) can't get Ash Die-back because they are not an Ash Tree. The Mountain Ash Trees (Rowan Trees) have for most of this year has had leaf die-back on the ends of the branches, The leaves that they do have all look blighted, Some of the ends of the branches are brittle, As are some of the limbs, A few of the younger trees have become totally brittle or dead, with a couple snapping off at the base. So if it is not Ash-Dieback, What is it? And What SHould I be advising should be done, because they are in public access places? If they were Ash, then I would be telling the client to fell them straight away. SO DO I ADVISE THE CUSTOMER THAT THEY SHOULD FELL THEM? In the attached pictures, some of the trees look a lot worse.. Especially the bigger trees.
  17. Thanks for your advice 👍
  18. Hi Muttley I have also liked the idea of having a Bow for doing archery and have seen these deal.... I have thought that they are ok for having some fun on land you own. But that's about all. What advice would you give on budget to spend on a set-up? What would you buy that you wouldn't quickly grow out of?
  19. I have 2x 6100 already... If I was to get a 7300, I might as well get another 7910 as it is the same weight and very little difference in price.
  20. The 500i is an 80cc saw... I am looking for a 70cc to go along with a 90cc saw.
  21. Which is the best option for a 70cc Chainsaw with a 24" bar for Arb or Forestry work? STIHL MS 462C-M or Husqvarna 572 XP Which is best and Why? ..... Ideally from people who have used both... Any know issues with either brands model? What's are peoples experiences of either brand for long term hard use?
  22. So it is about selling more and getting more tax revenues🤔
  23. New E10 Fuel My local petrol station today now only has E10 Petrol... Normal Unleaded (Ron95) and Super/premium Unleaded (Ron97) has all gone from the forecourt. So today was the first time using it. Started off with the last of the old unleaded and then switched to the new E10. The lad working for me brought the Stihl FS460 Strimmer over saying that it has run out partway through the job. Normally that task takes 1 to 2 full tanks and we was on the 4th refill. I tried to raise it with my Stihl dealer who has said that they had not had any advice or information from Stihl UK and I couldn't get through to their Technical Department to get any advice. Anyone else found anything strange with this fuel?
