  1. Probably the BEST First Aid + F trainer by miles that I have come across and would highly recommend is Danny Ball from MediArb. 2. Has anyone had any news on when the New Husqvarna T540 XP Mark III Top Handle Chainsaw will be available in the UK Dealerships? As displayed on their website: https://www.husqvarna.com/uk/chainsaws/t540xp-mark-iii/
  3. will need some new chainsaw boots that need to also be good for climbing in. I had intended to go for the Meindl Airstream Chainsaw Boots, but I have read a fair few comments online stating that they are not as good as they used to be quality wise since they relocated the country of manufacture. I don’t know if that is still the case. So I thought I would ask what people have found to be good as a climbing boot with chainsaw protection and would recommend? Especially in a wide fitting boot.
  4. Anyone using the Husqvarna T525 Tophandle Chainsaw? Is it any good? How does it far against the Echo 2511? I not that there are dealer pictures of it with a hard-nose carving bar and a normal bar. But dealer websites just seem to list it with the carving bar.
  5. Yes they should be allowed to strike. it is a basic human right to be able to withdraw your Labour or work to rule. We have the most restrictive union rule in Europe and that was before we left the EU. The new laws they are threatening to bring is is akin to somewhere like China. The reason the country is in such a mess is because we have been failed by successive governments for over 40x years and that is for both Tory and Labour. Wages have decreased massively in real terms over decades. An example of this is in 1988 I was working as a Photograher on a local paper for £ 16,000 and a car (before company car taxes) and I purchased a property that was a 2x bed terrace house and garage for £ 52,000. Step forward to 2022 and you most likely would not have a staff job and the money would be shockingly bad as a freelance. But for where they do have a staff job a senior Photographer on a paper like that would be on £ 22,000 and the same property is now £ 260,000 and you would not get a mortgage for it on that wage. for the £6k extra money you would be pay a whole host of extra new taxes and company car tax. Council tax would have quadrupled as well, not to mention the horrific rise in the cost of living. out of that £6 lift in wages I would say the you would lose about £3-4 in income tax, NI and higher taxes, plus new taxes. So in real terms in over 35 years you are worse off. my partner works in the NHS and is at the top of her band, and any wage rise she get is in real terms wage deflation. The mileage rate for doing home calls to treat people in the community is is the same as it was 12x years ago. In that time the cost to replace her Mazda 2 has doubled along with running costs and fuel. So in effect losing money.
  6. Big Minefield you are walking into here. Here is where I see the legal position: 1) If you want to give the lad an intro to climbing and some training pre his 'Tree Climbing and Aerial Rescue' Course & Qualifications, outside of working hours. Then there is no issue with this. This is because this is is not being done in a commercial sphere.. IE You can go rock climbing with no training or experience because it is for pleasure. However, you should be aware that if something happens, and you are giving instruction and it is deemed that you have failed to protect the student. Then you will get the book thrown at you. From a legal point of view you should be qualified to teach the subject. If you did it in the work place during his working day, you would have to adhere to all the Health & Safety in the Work Place Laws and Regulations. 2) For your lad to do the 'Safe Use of a Chainsaw from a Rope & Harness' training & qualification, it is a prerequisite that he already has the 'Tree Climbing and Aerial Rescue' Qualifications first. So for you to give him personal 'Chainsaw from a Rope & Harness' training with out the Climbing and Rescue qualification, I would say that it is a big NO, NO. There is nothing to stop you teaching him the cuts on the ground. 3) But what I don't understand is why you would even try and teach the 'Chainsaw from a Rope & Harness' before he has the 'Tree Climbing and Aerial Rescue Qualifications' because it is not something I would do or be comfortable doing. 4) Put this in a work place context: You State: 'Is someone allowed to climb using a saw if he is supervised at all times ?'. a) First of all technically you can't under H&S law have someone climbing commercially without the correct qualification because you would be breaching the 'Working at Height Regulations' (WAHR) and the 'Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations' (PUWER). b) Add to that the use of a chainsaw/possibly even a Silky would be further breached of both of the above regulations. 5) If anything went wrong in the slightest manner the HSE would screw you totally in court and you probably would never get insured again. 6) You would also be in breach of your insurance contract of cover. 7) If you gave some pre-course training for the climbing and rescue, and that course is booked. then you most probably would be ok (but check with your insurance company). But they can't commercially climb. 8). Once your lad has his climbing and rescue qualification then, I would see no reason why you could not give some safely orchestrated training. But you would certainly have to be able to prove that they was doing cuts in a very safe manner in a very simple circumstance situations (ie no pressure). If you was expecting them to slowly work through a whole commercial tree job then you would have an issue in that it could be argued that they are working commercially untrained. So you would really need to somehow be up there giving guidance while maintaining a safe distance. 9) But regardless I would having taken the above advice concentrate on one step at a time. Check what your position is with insurance company, Do a full risk assessment with control measures prior to doing anything. 10) But if you are going to teach anything. Remember it is all 'Two Rope / Double Rope climbing that he will need to learn.
  7. I have recently upgraded from cheap Treehog spikes to the Distel DMM - Click-Buckle - short gaff spikes I like the Distel spikes as they are so much more comfortable... But I was continually gaffing out on the short spikes that they came with while climbing on conifer and yew trees. So I had the larger spike sent out to to me and I have swapped them over. I find that on the larger spikes, I am continually on the spike point and not being able to use my boot instep for support.. There isn't a medium length spike. So are other people having the same problem and what are you using as a setup on these spikes?
  8. No heard of any issue with the 592xp.. If you are after on Tom's Mowers in Llandrindod Wells has just taken delivery of some 592xp's and 585's
  9. I was running a sweepstake on Arbtalk as to how long it would take to arrive having paid for it with a local dealer wen ordering the 592xp. And it took over a year to arrive.. Glad I have got it and just such a shame that many haven't. If I had of known that Husquvarna was going to be that bad at delivering, I would have picked up a Stihl MS661 that would have only have taken a month to get it...
  10. Husqvarna launching the 592xp and not being able to start delivering them to dealers was probably the best sales promotion that Stihl has ever had for the MS661 🤣
  11. I took deliver in August.. So a while ago. Lots of dealers still not had them yet
  12. I have had the new Husqvarna 592xp for a short while now and I also understand that there is only a handful in customers' hands in the UK at the moment. I have to admit to waiting a long time for it to arrive as a body-only unit. So a big thank you to Toms Mowers & Garden Supplies. But this 92cc Chainsaw certainly does not disappoint. I have been very impressed with the power delivery and the handling. It is currently set up on the longest bar that is recommended, a 36" Tsumura Light & Tough Bar, with 3/8", .063, 119 drive links chain. This is because Husqvarna currently can not supply a Husqvarna 36" bar in the UK. This saw has all the latest autotune technology. Toms Mower also is one of the only UK dealers to have the 585 chainsaw, which is the 85cc version in stock. It would be nice to also have the 585 Chainsaw as well because it is now the only full manual carb chainsaw in production that is available in the UK. For other people who are waiting for their 592xp or 585 to turn up, talk to your dealers to put some pressure on Husqvarna to get supplies sorted out. #jamiesgardenservices #husqvarna #592xp #585 #chainsaw #treesurgeon #treesurgery #arborist #powys #LlandrindodWells #groundsmaintenance https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100057266417894
  13. The 560and 562xp are both available. They are infuse the same chainsaw. The only difference is that are set up to take a different bar and chain if I am correct. The 560 runs .325 chain and the 562xp runs 3/8" chain. I have the 562 and it is a good chainsaw imho
  14. I hear that at SALTEX Husqvarna was displaying a new T540XP mk111 Tophandle Petrol chainsaw. did anyone get any info and pictures? And did Husqvarna say when dealers will have them for sale?
  15. Drifted into Arb and Grounds Maintenance after a long and successful career as a photojournalist, when I moved away from big cities to a rural area.
  16. strangle the Stihl 47” bar doesn’t have a nose sprocket.
  17. Typical, that since taking delivery I have had to wait over a month for the first outing for the New Husqvarna 592xp, 92cc Chainsaw on a job today. And it cuts like a beast. It has taken a year for Husqvarna UK to actually deliver the chainsaw to the dealer since it was purchased. But a big thank you to Tom at Tom's Mowers in Llandrindod Wells for getting me what must be the first UK dealer supplied 592xp in the country. The 592xp is fitted with a 36" Tsumura Light Bar & 3/8" Full Chisel Chain.

  21. Is there a way for us to be listed for multiple options without doing separate listings? ie Climber, Grounds Work, Machinery Owner/Operators, LOLER. Just created 3x listings
  22. Thanks for all the advice... I brought the Distel DMM with Valcro and Clip-Lock Buckles and Short Gaffs.. I have used them today for the first time, and they are very comfortable. But, I have been forever gaffing out with them while on a conifer I also found that they were much harder to use? I know I have got everything set up correctly. Question: 1) Has any one else had issues when they first went over to Distel? 2) How many of you are on the long spikes or short spikes?
