    I got a booklet from Clark's.

I'll put my money where my mouth is - A £20.00 charitable donation to the mountain bothies association if I've monumentally cocked this up.

It says in the information about oregon bars that they store a spare nose sprocket inside the bar. All mine are in too good condition to break open, but I'm sure someone on here will have a knackered one that they can look inside.

Has anyone actually used the spare sprocket stored in the nose of Oregon Pro-lite bars? Last year I ordered a pro-lite bar online for my saw and received a Pro-am instead. The supplier reckoned that there was next to no difference between a top end home user bar and an entry level professional bar... I wasn't convinced.
  5. Thanks Stere : Tudor were great and sorted me out. After not having responses from the other suppliers I was of the opinion that many were listing these planting spears on their website without having any in stock. Interesting point Ninja Strike, The bushpro is undoubtedly an excellently made spade, more so than the bulldog, however as I said having used all three the planting spear type worked for me under the conditions. The reason I don't think a pottipukti would work for me is that a lot of the time I have to do a bit of screefing. The last bit of planting I did was on an old river bed with broadleaf cell grown trees and some that were bare rooted. The stone in the ground was pretty difficult going.
  6. I've tried the bulldog one and the spear type and did better with the spear type. Thanks for the link to Tudor, that's the type that I'm after, a handle change from T-shape to D-shape shouldn't be too difficult. Will post up when I get sorted.
  7. I've been trying to find a supplier for the tree planting spears used to plant cell grown trees: http://www.albatrees.co.uk/?products=planting-spear-uk-made Alba don't sell them any longer and I already have the Bushpro Hiballer. This mob don't do them any longer either: http://shop.visatools.co.uk/tree-planting-spear---fibreglass-shaft-44-p.asp I've emailed Stanton Hope and not had a response. I've also enquired with Richard Carter and haven't had a reply from them either. Does anyone have an idea of a supplier that still has this type of spade in stock?
  8. Just set fire to it and replace the fence afterwards.
  9. Here's another thought - I'm a registered landlord. If my tenants make a complaint about me to the local authority I could lose my registration, the rules might be different in England, but if you have concerns for the people renting next door this could be the way to address this.
  10. I think you should build a second shed!
  11. Why's there a delay with these becoming available in the UK? They've been available in mainland europe since last year. https://www.ebay.de/itm/ECHO-CS-501-SXH-Profi-Motorsage-Kettensage-40cm-mit-Griffheizung-Sage/311802470352?hash=item4898e01fd0:g:kSAAAOSwwVpZvPXf
  12. Reconsider the creosote option, I used it in my garden and all the neighbours complimented me. https://www.ernestdoeshop.com/product/bird-brand-traditional-creosote/
  13. You'll soon have a three legged cat if you let it up there with a set fenn trap!
  14. That's not how Second Generation Anti Coagulants work. The rats don't get thirsty and go for a drink, they find somewhere warm to go to sleep (usually inaccessible in a loft or attic) and they expire from a bleed from the vital organs.
  15. A Fenn Mk.4. + peanut butter. If you need to have any traps covered I also had success with the genuine Kness Snap-E trap. Be choosy though, I was done by an ebay seller selling cheaper Chinese ones with weaker springs and poor build quality. The benefit of these traps is they fit into an AF bait station. I did use poison in the attic, but having to crawl into the eaves when the smell became overpowering in the warmer weather convinced me this was not the best option.
  16. Used them in the forces. The brakes were interesting - A bit of planning ahead necessary!
  17. Another 254xp owner and like the rest on this thread keen to keep it going for as long as possible into the future.
  18. Thank you, I'll do some reading. I see from this government web page that their target has been 9000ha per year. Woodland Creation
  19. Are they worth the price compared to a grandfors though? This review of the vipukirves is more telling as it isn't by the seller- [ame= ][/ame] For kindling I reach for this for even stuff- Morris Stick Chopper - £12.95 : Woodland Craft Supplies
  20. I had a short break in the spring and went to Highland Industrial Supplies and thought they looked pretty well stocked. I didn't scrutinise their prices though.
  21. I'm considering seeking a grant through the rural payments scheme in Scotland to create a couple of hectares of upland oak. The current funding cycle runs until 2020, is there any reason to think that the grants available after this date would be less favourable? If I were to apply over the coming year, I could have the planting done under the current scheme rather than leaving it to chance and seeing what's on offer on in future.
  22. I think I got the decent replacement from here- GENUINE STIHL OREGON HUSQVARNA CHAINS, SELECT THE CHAIN FROM THE DROP DOWN BOXES | eBay
  23. I've got a clearview and a contura and if I were doing it again the clearview would be the preferred choice as they are just so solid. I was looking at a charnwood initially, but the build quality just felt superficial compared to the clearview. https://www.whatstove.co.uk/
  24. I've got a 360, and though I really like it, like you the muffler runs far too hot and melts the grille. As a result of this I took the plastic guard off, the only issue is I've now singed my chainsaw helmet and trousers with the hot exhaust when I've been throwing my things in the back of the jeep! I recommend using a carb adjustment screwdriver (double D I think) as this makes it run far better on wide open throttle. A de-cat is on the cards, and then, I'll really like this saw. One advisable change is to get a stihl chain, as the oregon one that comes with it as standard isn't pleasant.
