  1. I think I'm going to go for the 372.... as you say might just swap bits out with genuine stuff/better quality OEM stuff as it breaks/I notice it's a bit dodge.
  2. Are you going to get someone to compression test it before trying to turn it over or just go for it? The only thing putting me off is seating the crank and not losing compression!
  3. I'd say there are far more people trying to make it on their own as climbers than there are groundsman with chippers and tippers. I'd hedge a bet (pun intended) that you will be a very busy man. That's not including all the firms that already have a chipper/tipper but have to think twice about big jobs because of the waste removal struggles. I wouldn't just take my opinion on it though, where are you based? Bound to be someone near you on here.
  4. https://www.huztl.net/Complete-Repair-Parts-HUSQVARNA-365-362-371-372-372XP-ENGINE-MOTOR-CRANKCASE-CYLINDER-PISTON-CRANKSHAFT-CHAINSAW-p225726.html 372 parts for £120
  5. How did you seat the crank case? I've seen people use hot/cold or presses?
  6. I'm excited to see this finished and up and running!
  7. I struggle, I just move position if on the pole or roll the log on the ground and cut up from existing cut to finish off.
  8. I think we are all missing a trick in just how easy the money is in knotweed....
  9. I was kidding about the glyphosate I see there are some courses you can do with companies that are supported by the Institute of Chartered Surveyors. In terms of guarantee, if you stuck to the system of work approved by "whoeveritis" then wouldn't that be enough to satisfy builders/banks? Similar I guess to diagnosing a tree in perfect health and it shedding a limb 6 months later due to the "nature factor"?
  10. Train other people to use the tractor? Serious answer, the guy I work with most of the time has a grab on a 2.5ton digger, it's surprisingly agile and can fit in some tight spots.
  11. Does anyone do invasive species works? Other than the relevant PA units, what sort of training is required to deal with invasive species? In terms of survey, is there a whole lot more to it than just identifying it's presence/absence, I assume plants like knotweed don't have the same predictable root structures as trees? I'm hearing a lot recently about knotweed and there aren't many people dealing with it near me, mostly nation wide companies coming into the area. White transit full of bin bags, 2 litres of glysophate and a picture of some knotweed and I'm good to go right?!
  12. Copied this exact setup, attaching it to my hitchclimber was 10000 times better than straight to my knee or elsewhere on my bridge, had to play around with shortening my bungee a bit but works a dream now! It's 7:30 in the evening and I have the strength to drink my cup of tea, the future is bright!
  13. Thanks chaps, think I just need to experiment with the length of bungee used. How far below do your croll's sit below your hitchclimber/zigzag with the bungee fully relaxed; right up to your love sack or still near the knee?
  14. Apparently it's related to Psoriasis, which is concerning as I get it a bit on my elbows...
  15. Yeah not thick enough could be the answer, I'll go have a play out the back before I lose the light!
  16. Yeah, I just have a tape attached to the bottom for now. Just having trouble with it following me up nicely when i transfer my weight to my foot ascender.
  17. Hey, Those that use knee ascenders, how do you attach them to yourselves? I've tried some bungee cord to my bridge, but my weight transfers onto it. I've also tried it strapped around my knee but it sits at a funny angle and doesn't flow very well. I have petzl croll. Thanks, Mark.
  18. Annoyingly I had 1000 invested in Bitcoin a couple of months ago, I sold up when it started to fall. It's now 3 X what it was, missed out on about 9k.....
  19. I'd start advertising yourself as a hand cutter OR groundsman, if you have a big saw then you are more than worth the money Squirrel said. One thing I'm starting to notice is there are lots of freelance climbers round me but people don't advertise themselves as groundsman.
  20. I mean, I'm probably cross loading the pulley thnking about it...
  21. mid line alpine butterfly or marlin spike then a biner to the pulley that's caught the other side of the rope. Mid line knot so I can adjust tail to next work position/ground when descending.
