  1. Sorry all. my wife has informed me that is homophobic. I apologise. She’s cool with having a go at Ozzie’s though
  2. Come on Stubby. Not all Aussies are pillow biters!
  3. Come on Eggs! Why if it is to be believed? I live amongst a load of travellers and see young 6 yr old kids boxing each other with gloves on with adults shouting then on in local fields regularly
  4. I read “Gypsy Boy”. A book written by a gay gipsy bloke who basically had 7 shades kicked out of him by his family to make him straight. He dished the dirt telling of all their tricks, putting petrol in old tarmac to “thin it out”. As the article says, it would last until it rained. My elderly stupid brother answered the door to a cold caller re his roof. Blow me he needed a new one! And he fecking agreed!! I moved in to my 150 year old house 30 years ago and got a roofer in for some new slates. Apparently I needed a new roof as well! Its still water tight. I now put any stray slates in myself
  5. Only managing a tree a fortnight for milling and various home projects but in 3 years I retire so my only time limitations then will be my missus. If I finish before I pop my clogs I will be happy [emoji2]
  6. I stopped when he had a video endorsing Trump. I was watching for hIS DIY stuff not his effing politics
  7. yeah, I worked it out, Kiev in Ukraine is the same distance from Durham for me
  8. What’s on yer arm?
  9. I suppose exposure more important than height to diameter??
  10. Saudi Arabia in the news with its spate with Canada. It’s too easy to have a go at the Saudis. They are not half as sexist as they are made out. Eg women have always been allowed to drive there, they just have very strict reversing into a parking space standards on their driving test
  11. here is my usual stump. Admittedly the hinge is a bit thin?
  12. I posted it on here. Can’t remember the thread
  13. I bet it tastes like dog piss
  14. That’s my main fear. I’m not bothered about poles being valuable in 30 years time cos I will be worm food by then. It’s a PAWS, way too dense with little understory although that photo is on the lane. I’m no expert and I’m grateful for advice but imo that oak is gonna topple, 50m up the track a sycamore DBH 10” blew over a few months ago. Who’s TCD? I’m now having to head back and take all the effing stumps down in case I have to post another picture on here[emoji851] I understand your comment now WesD. I am using “not bothered” a lot [emoji23]
  15. Cheers. I’ve just spent 5 minutes trying to think of a false clever reason why I cut the stump so high. The honest answer is I’m milling 8ft sections on a Logosol and I can’t lift anything much wider[emoji30] Edit. Just thought of the reason. I like to give squirrel s a nice vantage point when they are nibbling
  16. Cheers. To be honest I’m not bothered about the labour or the looks. Equally not bothered about the ash or sycamore surviving as there’s loads of them. I just want the few oaks and beech I have to do well and as you know oaks like the light. i want more diversity and light to understory
  17. You have your answer. After a 30 year gap I tried it. I basically love salt and fat but the spam was just too much
  18. i'm thining a mixed woodland. when the conifers go i'm left with gangly hardwoods. i know ash and sycamore don't mind being topped but i don't have many oaks and don't want to take any chances. when oaks (or whatever for that matter) are so thin and tall is it best to top them to reduce chance of blow over or snapping? the one in the pic has a fair old lean anyway so considering topping it 12 ft from the ground??
  19. Well that’s down the road for you lot isn’t it?
  20. Cooling down now thankfully. 18 in County Durham Not tried shorts as I’d be nibbled scratched and stung but use chaps with v thin hiking trousers when too hot for my usual trousers You in Oz? I see there’s a drought there
  21. oops, sorry Timon, i thought you were referring to me and not Krauss. Hey, i don't mind either way. all good fun
  22. anyone and anything is game my friend and open to criticism. i'm just relieved i would no longer be burned at the stake for expressing obvious facts, never mind opinion?
  23. spam would not be humane
