  1. Someone on £40k is a net contributor of income tax. If and when they claim child benefit they are recovering a portion of the tax they have paid in. They certainly are not claiming any of your meagre tax contributions. Why should only those who do not contribute to income tax be allowed to benefit from it? Seems a very odd stance to take. Im sure you’ve mentioned before that you al least had a son?
  2. I get child benefit paid from Norway, according to your argument Im not paid enough.
  3. So they are earning a relatively good wage then? They will be income tax contributors, not a drain. I really dont see what your point is here? If they are not happy with that wage they can negotiate a wage rise or leave. Same as its ever been.
  4. If they are as skilled as you imply they will be paid enough. If they are not then they can apply to a company paying more in line with what their supposed skillset demands. Or do you mean they are easily replaceable minimum wage drones with no paperwork to back up their supposed skills?
  5. If they're so skilled perhaps they should start their own business from the ground up and instead of flying around in a Chopper dole it all out to the workers who did not dare take the effort and risk themselves.
  6. Its what I charge anyway. Ive heard similar prices from other members here as well. If its so much perhaps you should get into milling as well.
  7. I dont know a single person who would be willing to rent out their kit. Far to much of a risk of killing the saw, knackering a couple of £100 chains or even damaging the Mill. You could find a second hand set-up for the cost of two days Milling. I just sold my 60" Panther Mill & 084 Saw for £1350. The op would then have all the time in the world to learn how to Mill his Beech and hopefully know enough not to kill the saw the first time using it.
  8. Ban Mark J from his accountant?
  9. Thankyou for the in depth review. That seals it for me, I'll not be getting the Norwood.
  10. Not really Les. Im basing my point of view on having ever owned one Bandsaw Mill and others, primarily American, have very mixed reviews on the Norwood. But finding reviews on the Logosol is very far and few between so getting a genuine comparison is difficult.
  11. Factor in 1-2 days to mill at about £600 a day. Beech can be very attractive timber but there is not a huge demand for it although Ive used it in a few of my own projects and really like it. Its not durable like Oak is so its really limited to indoor use unless well protected. Personally I just clog up the majority of Beech for firewood these days but if I get a nice log in the future I might mill it.
  12. What did you go for in the end? Im looking to move up to the Logosol B1001 with the 1300kg Trailer with the intention of further upgrading to full hydraulics when finances allow. Having spoken with the Scottish Logosol Dealer he mentioned they have a very low hours fully Hydraulic HD36 but its missing the Log Lifter and Trailer. Its for sale at the same price as a new barebones B1001. Having done some research on the HD36 is seems to be built to an inferior quality and everting looks that much more flimsy. The Log Loader for example is £1500 compared to the Logosols offering at £3000. The Norwoods Log Loader seems to buckle and twist with an average sized log and can only handle 1 ton compared to the Logosols two tons. The Norwood has those crappy ceramic blade guide and Ive read nothing good about them and many seem to have swapped them out with Rollers like the Wood-Mizer and Logosol Bandsaws have as standard. Its a hassle Id rather not get into to be honest. My Logosol B751 has been kept outside in the full Scottish Weather for three years now and you'd hardly know it. I hammer it and have only had to change the Drive Belt and the bearings the Saw Head rolls on. Ive not had to adjust a single thing since new. Any feed back would be appreciated. I'll pop up and have a play on the HD36 and see what the Hydraulics is like in person but I think Id need some serious convincing to go for it.
  13. How are you planning on handling the sawdust being so close to the treeline?
  14. Selling the Truck to buy either a loader or a Logosol B1001. Will see what happens. Anyone interested in 9mpg? 🤣
  15. Realised I’ve no posted a milling pic in a while. Did a days milling for a mate/estate in exchange for transporting a Digger and moving a load of stumps to the front of the house. Was slow going as there’s no loader. Just a hand winch.
  16. Sounds like something a homophobe would say…..
  17. Now now Eggs. Posting homophobic slurs is a sure fired way of getting the Ban Hammer dropped. Tread carefully old chap.
  18. I’ve done just that. As has Dave. That’s two instances in recent memory. That’s plenty for tonight. Folk can now watch on in future to see if the trend continues or if I’ve shamed you out of your fixation.
  19. Two desperate posts on the trot Eggs? That speaks a volume that says otherwise. Let me guess, in Dempseys original words and ones you have since plagiarised repeatedly I guess you’re going to tell me to “give my head a wobble”? I’ll leave it to others to judge how often you suck on Dempseys Titties. Surely it won’t bother you if folk take note on how often you plagiarise Dempsey?
  20. Not really Eggs. I just don’t exist in your whim and call. I’ve had a rather productive day and just finished lovely roast dinner. Im struggling to keep my eyes open but I’ll hold off sleeping til I find out why you’re so desperate for my attention. If you don’t want my attention then just say so. It’s quite simple.
  21. Eggy always follows Dempseys lead. It’s a form of idol worship I think. 🤣 If Dempsey uses a new term or phrase sure as shit Eggy follows suit a few posts later. It’s quite comical when you start to notice it.
  22. Just finished “The three body problem” trilogy and now onto the continuation in the universe by an officially endorsed fan.
  23. If only the Unions in the UK had the balls and power of the Norgies. Generally toothless here in the UK. IVe a mate who is a postie and is worried all his strike action and loss of pay has been for nothing now that the Christmas leverage is over. At least if/when we strike I get 'paid' from the Union
  24. Im selling my Panther Mill set-up as I just dont use it as much as I thought I would and without access to a loader lifting heavy slabs around is not as exciting as it used to be.
