I'm after the exact same thing to turn milled timber into usable consistant wood just unsure which would be bust for me my wood is mainly around 3 foot long but would be nice to mill longer in the future if it came up. Thanks for your reply.

What jointers or jointer/thiknesser are people using to flatten/square there rough saw lumber?

Iv had no trouble with cherry up to yet haven't milled huge pieces tho. Shendy ... just seal it will help a bit and hinder non.

It's always best to seal and protect yourself not going to hurt, all types of wood dry differently but it's easy to seal and can save waste I seal the log then mill easyer then sealing each border afterwords.

Thankyou muttley9050 that bowl I trying drying too fast plus it still had the pith in it and it badly cracked I couldn't bring myself to bin it so that's what I came up with.

Nothing wrong with white I used old candle wax, you could used thick pva if you want a clear finish.

Hi everyone this is my first post im mainly a hobbyist I have a husqvarna 560xp grate saw iv also made my own chainsaw mill which works grate. Iv recently cut down two tree trucks where the homeowner removed all the smaller branches with there electric chainsaw, one as a cherry tree which is grate timber the other I carnt identify it wondering if anyone can help me out its nice looking and quite hard ill put up some pics many thanks wayne. The main trunk is about 20" the piece that iv cut is about 8" to see the timber. And just a few pics of my mill etc.
