Your cynicism is starting to rub off on me Mark
-
The UK deserves better than Keir Starmer’s half-hearted pitch for prime minister APPLE.NEWS If the government changes, but the frustrations many voters feel stay the same, what then? Old knee taker might get just realise it ain’t as easy as it looks Mark, always tempting to sit back and criticise but when the buck stops at you it’s totally different. Nothing Labour or any of the other opposition parties are saying looks to have any real connection to the problems your typical working class family is encountering. Labour in particular seem more concerned with various vocal minority groups than anything else.
-
Things must be buzzing down your way eh 👍
-
Political party choices are not great at min Mark I’ll agree.
-
Was that even worth the bloody effort to write it eh 🤷♂️ffs.
-
So we will help you by taxing you more 🤷♂️that’s thanks you get for being a hard working responsible type your whole working life 😡Tories I’m sad to say are literally out of ideas big time, worse than that the opposition don’t have anything whatsoever to bring to the table.
-
Or alternatively he can see the writing on the wall and maybe just maybe the Yankee dollar 💵 still has some appeal.
-
I’d agree wholeheartedly with the latter points, being frugal and sensible is not seen as a virtue nowadays. my youngest son came in asking about a stone island jumper a while back 😳over £200 it was, needless to say he regretted the request very very quickly after getting both barrels. But I guess when you rely on consumerism so much to keep the economy going then what we see now was pretty much inevitable at some point.
-
The depressing thing is Steve I’ve not heard any viable alternative suggestions or ideas from any other political party at all . My own view of the idea that interest rate rises will sort inflation is that it’s akin to using a hammer to sort a headache. I think you’d get more effect with a series of tv ads telling people to be cautious with money, save and plan for the future etc etc rather than constant ads encouraging us to buy shit we don’t need or eat utter muck.

The amount you borrowed for a house back then was a lot less, wage increases have nowhere near kept up with house price increases. An increase in a 40k mortgage is easier to handle than an increase on a 300k mortgage. The banks and the government are coining it in at the moment with the interest rate rises, I see Hmrc are on course for near record tax take, freezing tax thresholds and allowing people to climb into upper bands seems to be putting a lot of cash back into the tax man’s coffers.

5 lives lost and the international coverage this has generated will virtually guarantee the industry will be under the microscope. There’s a huge difference between the commercially available submarines available and the ultra Deepwater submersibles. I’ve seen the testing on civilian subs ( U Boat Worx) at a facility nearby here ( I think one of techs involved may be on here as a forum member nowadays)
-
Always takes a tragedy to shake things up but I’d say the submersible industry is in for a big shake up. I’d say it will have been a mercifully quick event.
-
I wouldn’t at all, and also a lot of the dramatic media coverage is BS quite frankly( I’ve just listened to a bbc presenter ask yet another expert “ would they have taken extra carbon dioxide with them” 😳🤷♂️unbelievable lack of basic understanding of high school level physiology) , whenever there is an incident of any kind it’s amazing how many people want to get involved or have an opinion or idea. Magellan want their kit on-site 🤔maybe it was the best tool for the job “ who knows” the people on-site who certainly are not fools have made the shout and are managing the situation as best as they can. More to the point at the bare minimum is the lack of contingency or emergency preparedness that seems to have been the case. I know if I’d rocked up at that set up and seen how it was deployed etc I’d have put my 250k back in my pocket and asked for a ride back to port.
-
The bit of kit in question is a work class ROV of which there are at least two ( probably more)mobilised on vessels at site already, even if they had flown on Monday you need to find and mobilise a suitable vessel, fit and sea fasten then load test the LARS, interface all the electronics, transit to the site etc etc, I’ve been involved with numerous bare boat mobilisations and they are not quick turnaround events. For sure time was of the essence but also the realisation that it was an impossible undertaking may have been in people’s minds when decisions were being made 🤷♂️. If they are now moving into a recovery phase as opposed to rescue then time is no longer an issue.
-
Good story, I read a book on that a good few years back. If you can get a copy try this. It’s dated and N Sea diving and vessel technology has come a long way since then but still a good albeit tragic read.

The guys in the submersible are in or were at 1 atmosphere pressure ie the same as what we are now on the surface. So if they do find them and can secure lifting eqpt to it then yeah they will be able to just pull them up with no deco issues. If it has leaked then I’d say the results would be catastrophic, a leak at that depth would be like an HP water jet coming in with 380bar of pressure. You’d soon reach the point where the normal air is toxic, so I’d say any decompression issues would be the least of their concerns, air is only used as a rule up to 50msw commercially. saturation divers breathing a helium/oxygen mix working at say 120msw will go down in a bell and when at depth lock out do a shift then come back up to vessel and lock into the system which might be at 90msw ( referred to as storage depth) the accommodation chambers are built into the vessel and the bell is just a taxi to work. All deco from depth is done in a controlled manner on the boat. Bit of a lengthy and involved topic Mark, but the Byford Dolphin incident Andy mentioned is grim reading as is the Widrake lost bell incident.

Lockdowns 'damaged a generation', former Chief Medical Officer tells Covid Inquiry | Politics | News | Express.co.uk WWW.EXPRESS.CO.UK Dame Sally Davies said she had seen 'the damage' lockdowns had done to children - and that wass... The insanely expensive Covid inquiry is not throwing up any real revelations but the fact is that the remarks of the former CMO on the damaging effects of Lockdowns were utterly predictable. I commented a long time back at watching my then 12 year old daughter In tears stuck at home during this period of absolute madness.

A powerful rated for that depth Work Class ROV is probably the only option if it’s on the bottom. Disadvantage with a mobile system is it needs mobilising to a suitable vessel, that includes welding all sea fastenenings etc Still regardless of that it would be good to see them on the way to site rather than just waiting.
-
I can’t imagine the magnetic signature of that thing is big neither especially compared to what’s lying around already down there so that certainly won’t help in locating it. As you say all people can do now is hope for the best.
-
I think Skandi Vinland was on long term charter over there already, east coast of Canada is there Oil and Gas patch as I’m sure Andy will verify, so hopefully yeah they can be on site within the estimated time left for the LSS onboard. Either her or deep energy are hopefully kitted out with right set up to help. My gut feeling is the odds are stacked against them but there’s always hope I guess.
-
You are correct Mark the NSRS set up is not rated for anywhere near that depth and even if it was the submersible in question does not have a compatible trunking for the rescue sub to mate to. Only option I see is top class WROV and a deep water capable crane, Deep Energy and Skandi Vinland are in passage id say for that very reason , if you look at any of the number of ship tracking apps you can see that in real time. Combined crane and work class ROV ops at that depth are not uncommon, the skill levels on some of these ROV pilots in particular in the use of the manipulators is awesome. More than capable of hooking up a crane to a load at that depth or even tying a sling around something.

When Starmer and the likes are spouting utter BS about us becoming a global green energy superpower the reality of it is more like the two pics. Made in China paid for by UK consumers.

Tory aides invited to 'Jingle and Mingle' Covid party WWW.BBC.CO.UK The BBC sees an invitation to 30 people, asking them to a Christmas party in 2020 when Covid... 🤷♂️🤔well I guess they were not overly worried or maybe knew the reality of the situation a bit better than they were letting on.

Average two-year fixed mortgage rises above 6% as Sunak rules out extra help for households APPLE.NEWS The average rate for a two-year year fixed rate mortgage deal has edged above 6% for the first time... No help is fine but let’s stick to the same rules next time the banks or any other financial institution or Mickey Mouse Indian steel boss needs a bail out.

That’s the TE125 cleaned up a tad, changed all fluids and replaced the battery and plug. Turned her over in gear a few times minus the plug etc and gave it a once over but in reality with 332 miles it’s not needing much at all and fired up as sweet as can be ( if it were me I’d be swapping the tyres mind) . I’ve no intentions to keep this so if anyone wants a learner legal top quality 125 then feel free to PM me.
