  1. Nice looking log, should get some nice clean slabs from that.
  2. UK to offer Covid vaccines to Ireland APPLE.NEWS Britain is planning to offer 3.7 million Covid jabs to Ireland, in part to help lift the lockdown in... Nice little read for the UK critics on here.

There’s a good few guys on this site whom have other sources of income outside of Arb/Timber work.
  5. Decent market for smaller stuff I find, not everyone wants or needs monster size and expense slabs.
  6. Batley Grammar School: More people gather over Mohammed image row, as housing minister Robert Jenrick 'disturbed' by protest APPLE.NEWS Demonstrations outside a school where a teacher showed a caricature of the Prophet... Let's see if the police use the same tactic to break up this illegal demonstration that they did In London at a peaceful vigil. The ultra Woke PC brigade will say bugger all unless we see a teacher meet the same unfortunate fate of the French guy whom originally showed the Image.
  7. Depending on how difficult the extraction is id go for it, those logs may well produce some lovely boards, plenty of colour still in it.

My sentiments too, seen more than one animal with terrible jaw and head damage that has struggled on for days.

22 Hornet is not a reliable humane everyday roe calibre regardless of who’s on the trigger. I’m well aware of my own capabilities, I shoot 22rf,17hmr,223,243 and sect 1 shotgun in the field, each has its place. Many is the time I’ve had opportunity but not the right tool. Each to their own but it would not be me using it on roe.

Bullet placement is indeed everything but as for 22 Hornet on roe that would not be anywhere near enough to do the job effectively and humanely every time, short range yes it will drop one as would 22rf but would you class it’s ethically ok, I know I wouldn’t.

Id not argue with that, 308 is a great all rounder.
  12. Sadly a lot of that is true Les but where possible you can source better product/eqpt with a bit of time and effort, eg I always use Eley for rimfire ammo . If I can’t get British I’ll go European or American. Buying from China is only helping to keep UK manufacturing in the state it’s in now. As has been mentioned successive governments have played a massive short sighted part too. We should be seeing huge buy British campaigns on TV and in the media every day, my own pet hate is the current boom in renewable energy around our coast ie wind farms. The total lack of UK manufacturing input is a national disgrace but it’s hidden by media savvy energy companies having the structures built in China or elsewhere then shipped half way around the world and passed off as green energy. Meanwhile the potential for tens of thousands of skilled engineering and manufacturing jobs disappears. Those Chinese chainsaws I’ve seen mentioned on here recently 😳 id rather use a bloody axe than one of those.

17hmr is a good vermin control round and will deal with fox but it’s nowhere near the 222. 243 is another big step up. Better to be 100% sure of what each Calibre is is capable of and stick within its limits. Nothing worse than a wounded or poorly despatched animal be it vermin right up to reds.
  14. Making a conscious effort to buy British where possible and when not at least to buy decent quality. Not easy when you start trying to do it as the grip the Chinese have on manufacturing is staggering.

Yeah I’d agree in many respects. 222 will do anything you want in the field. I also do a bit of range work and used to do PR with an Armalon converted 700 in 233 so appreciate the ability to push out a bit further with the heavier 223 bullets that are available.

Not fancy 223 ??. Super versatile round.
  17. Happy to pay the pay for a decent quality tool. The performance and capability is more important to me than price.
  18. Looking at the Stihl range for a general use battery saw, mainly to be used when milling to trim up logs etc, any advice on which model ?? 12” bar would be fine.
  19. A city on the brink? Birmingham facing ‘disaster’ as unemployment hits levels not seen since Eighties APPLE.NEWS Some 33,000 people have lost their jobs in last year with 15 per cent of city’s population now out of work Tip of the iceberg sadly.
  20. That’s my thoughts, looks like they are putting the lips 👄 on.
  21. One day it will be something other than Elm
  22. ‘Ugly scenes’ as anti-lockdown protesters hurl bottles and flares at police in central London a week after Sarah Everard vigil APPLE.NEWS Police were filmed retreating back to their vans after being bombarded with bottles and cans... Slightly different reaction compared to a few days ago. Obviously a group of women carrying out a peaceful vigil are a far easier problem to deal with.
  23. Revealed: the truth about the peers who are born to rule APPLE.NEWS Britain’s system of hereditary peerages is outdated and must be abolished, two candidates to be... Whilst I do support many of our sometimes eccentric traditions I’d say the case for reform is strong, at the same time looking across the pond and seeing how they go about things with their equivalents doesn’t exactly bode well.
  24. Monstrously un PC but valid points nonetheless , thankfully within this derided state we still have free speech “ just “
