He’s an agricultural building fabricator and erector by trade and I think that price is with him doing much for the work himself, he’s lucky in-as much as he’s on the family farm so can set up the panel array away from house and at the optimal bearing. As I’ve just stated if money was no concern I’d probably be heading that route. I’m currently paying average £150 a month plus oil for the heating (rural so no gas )whereas he was on £400 but that covered everything. Luckily the wood burning stove is the primary source of heat for us 90% of the time and that’s fed exclusively with waste from milling.

New build property and incorporated from day one. The facts and figures you posted are very interesting. If I had a spare chunk of cash I’d more than likely try to go that route myself and or a small wind turbine

I’m just curious and in no way contradicting what you are saying but how are the profits currently being made within the wind industry any different or less attractive to corporations than the profits being made by say nuclear energy providers??. I have been involved in the offshore side of things with the wind energy industry and have seen firsthand the absolute free for all cash cow that this has become for predominantly overseas companies. Regarding the solar energy/storage set up you mentioned what may I ask was the installation cost and the projected break even point, and does this provide you with all the power you require on a day to day basis Ive a neighbour up here in Aberdeenshire looking to put in a system that’s costing him around 15k he estimates 8 years to break even and is only putting it up as his air source heat pump system is proving to be horrendously expensive to run.

Cracking day out in Deeside for a customer milling various bits of Oak( primarily 200x200 beams ) , one log was too big for mill, had to be broken down into 200mm slabs with the Alaskan then trimmed to fit. I just do not miss that 880 banging away right next to me 😞

Very true but I do think the manner in which the French got rid of their Monarchy might have something to do with how it’s captured people’s imagination over the years. Not quite sure if it would be anywhere near as dramatic if it ever occurs here. Probably a weak willed arrangement somewhat like the Queen's tax deal a few years back, the same one that avoided Chuck paying inheritance tax recently.

Even as a former member of the household division I have zero interest in swearing any allegiance to an individual based upon nothing but an accident of birth at this point in my life . Charles has a task on his hands to reaffirm a valid role for the whole monarchy imo, a good start would be utterly slashing the huge number of hangers on and associated staff and hand a good few of the properties to the national trust so the general public genuinely could access them rather than the current ludicrous set up.
