Your post was ridiculing American workers My reply pointed out the technological lead the US has in many respects, I never bothered to even mention the industrial espionage and theft the Chinese are know for. Was the recent mine in Cumbria that was denied planning consent due to “green shite” not solely for that purpose??. We are literally sitting on millions of tons of some of the best quality coal in the world, yet we have for years since our own industry was prematurely destroyed imported huge quantities from all over the globe. It’s pure insanity that is leaving us very vulnerable. On this matter I’m not just blaming labour the conservatives have been every bit as bad. National security should be above all other concerns.

100% Agree the current net zero path we are on is a dangerous ideology driven example of sheer lunacy. I watched an article on the news last night about the 2035 commercial vehicle electrification target, Nestle I think it was running a trial on Volvo tractor units. Standard diesel unit £170000 GTW 44T with a range of 800 miles on one tank. Electric unit £300000 GTW 28T with a range of 130mile max “ with a large amount of variables thrown in”.

I think if you shoot for long enough you will get the exotic calibre bug. Been there done it right up to 338lap mag and spent plenty for the privilege. Nowadays I’m down to 22lr, 223 and 308 which suits me fine. Good ammo for pest work mil surp if it’s a day of making brass. I also keep my shots on live targets to 150m-175m, the fieldcraft aspect of getting close is every bit as important if not more for me than calibre or optics.

Some on here previously advising on strategies in regards Ukraine etc don’t seem to realise the security implications of not having our own steel manufacturing capacity. Watching the news this morning listening to various politicians waffling utter crap trying to justify the absolute mess successive governments have left the steel industry in. The situation the UK finds itself in regarding sourcing coking coal is ( bearing in mind the resources under our feet) a monumental own goal brought on in no small way by the ludicrous chase for “Net Zero” funnily the one clown who is rather conspicuous by his absence this morning is Milliband.

I shoot with a guy who swears by that calibre Stubby, he’s out nearly every weekend and at least once during the week all year round . He’s had no trouble with excess or premature barrel wear, mind you he does load his own. I tend not to take too much notice of the “barrel burner” stuff, possibly if you are banging out rapid fire strings at comps but for pest work etc 🤷♂️.
