  1. I'd leave, leastways I wouldn't be livin there if I knew how much it was costing people back in Britain to subsidize my existence... like I said, shameless the lot of em..
  2. I'm worth enough to know I wouldn't be living on some penguin colony if it mean't draining the pockets of the great British Public.. Do they know no shame?..
  3. I'll have to see whats in the freezer...
  4. Well when I'm talking about the climate in the Falklands I'm obviously havin a joke.. But how many live there, what are they worth does come into it...British nationals or not... I'll hazard a guess that even our own government wished the Falkland Islanders voted to go join Chile or Argentina.. good money down the drain to defend two sheep farms at the far end of the earth... And it was Margret Thatchers government who wanted to get rid of the Falklands in the first place, why don't you address that?...
  5. walk away, come back when your minds right and try again.. I've had the same problem many times, and after a minute tried again an I did it right..
  6. Rule of thumb, never buy stolen equipment, never buy what might be stolen and never buy from the back of a van.. My friend borrowed 150 off his work mate to buy somethin from the back of a van. turned out he'd just borrowed 150 to buy a brick... and his work colleague wanted his money back before the day was out...
  7. I'm suggesting three thousand people living in a freezer shouldn't be the tail wagging the dog... BBC NEWS | UK | Falklands questions answered For example, UK minister Nicholas Ridley visited the islands in November 1980 with the object of persuading the islanders to accept a Hong Kong-style 'lease back' solution to the problem. Didn't know this, perhaps our Mrs Thatcher removed the Endurance to put pressure on the Islanders, only the silly woman miscalculated.. Instead of a peaceful takeover, she got an unexpected invasion... But heres the thing, even back then Britain wanted shut of the place.. which is perfectly in line with what I' said... get rid and good riddance.. Oh about the oil.... if oil is ever recovered, do you expect it to be used to pay for the defense of the Island or will it be spent enriching the islanders why we pay to defend them?..
  8. Future oil reserves, what has oil to do with anything... Sovereign territory, now your confusing me...
  9. Given that Thatcher felt she had to lie about the details of the incident, I'd say it does matter that it was heading away from the conflict zone... As to German Bombers, another day, another thread..
  10. theres a difference between spending billions on your own ego and spending money on helping out an old friend...
  11. whats ironic?...
  12. I think we should of done the decent thing, gone off to war and defeated the Argentine Junta of the time... Don't suppose we had much choice... What I couldn't stand was, it was Thatcher in charge of the expedition..hated that woman.. Then to have her take the piss out of us when men were dying is beyond despicable... Now if you want to know what I think the Islanders thought, well I'm sure they were happy, why wouldn't they be... But given the cost of keeping those Islands I'd of got rid of them a long time ago... why spend billions over the years defending what amounts to a glorified sheep farm?.. still I suppose national pride comes into play, and now we're stuck with the things, pouring money into frigid black hole down in the South Atlantic.. perhaps a research station can be built in some part of the islands, invite Argentine's to run it and by inches build the base up till theres more of them than Islanders and then let em vote it to Argentina.. One less white elephant to pay for....
  13. I'm on that planet that see's truth as a virtue, not to mention I don't like politicians and media lying to us. Do they think we're to thick to handle the truth?....
  14. I blame Thatcher for lying to the British public.. which brings into question her motives.. Which I might add brings in her qualities as a leader...not much of one in my opinion...
  15. Look Kev you might think I know nothing about some strategic aim moral obligation or what have you, but I can tell you I know about all that sort of thing... Just haven't the time to go into it all.. And, read my lips... Its the fact Thatcher lied to me, lied to you, lied to the British electorate.. in doing so, she was showing her contempt for all of us... What about motive, why lie?.....to hide her shame... sinking a ship that was on its way home.. The woman was despicable..
  16. Volumes?... errm, is it what I said that speaks volumes or your reply?.. Yea, I think your reply speaks volumes.
  17. Its just dawned on me that trains aught be fitted with GPS, surely that would be more economical than all these sensors along the lines.. maybe put sensors in tunnels if needed..
  18. Oh yea, I must of missed this earlier... Let me explain, during the Falklands conflict, I was sort of conflicted myself. I despised the media hype surrounding the whole thing, the ships sailing off into the sunset, British soldiers singing don't cry for me Argentina and all the other crap surrounding the "Invasion of the Falklands".. Great Britain reduced to fighting for a penguin Island, how anyone wouldn't find that sad is beyond a joke... Then theres Thatcher the milk snatcher... anyone else but her in charge please... So yea, as far as I'm concerned the Falklands conflict wasn't some glorious victory against the odds, but some sordid little conflict fought to get Thatcher re-elected... Then theres the lies, Thatcher lying through her back teeth about a ship she had sunk, sayin it was heading towards the task force.. It was heading out away from the exclusion zone, but she had it torpedoed and lied about why she sank it.. Yea, I'd forgotten about that... Milk Snatcher and Liar to boot...
  19. And what special qualities do you possess that me and obviously some others do not?... I'd be interested to know.. you being the expert an'all..
  20. Hahah, pay my dental fee's, I wish you would, got two front teeth missing that need fixing up... Anyway, my point was about Tony Blair and Margret Thatcher, he fighting a campaign in Iraq, she fighting a campaign on a rock.. I didn't mention the ones doin the actual fighting for a reason, I wasn't comparing their fighting spirit, but the spirit of those who lead them.. Now as to what to do about this attack in Paris, thats a whole different matter, its easy to say do this or that without thinking it through. Not to mention a whole can of worms to be opened... best let our political betters do their best, see how it turns out...
  21. Tony Blair invaded Iraq, Thatcher invaded a penguin colony maybe its Tony Blair we need ?..
  22. Its what I thought while ruminating on this tragedy.. Perhaps it is, or maybe Friday the thirteenth had more to do with it... who knows, I suppose we'll find out soon enough... I don't know if the news media haven't reported it, but Merkel seems to be very quiet... Did she sleep well last night?...
  23. Used a pair of those the other day, one side extended, the other stuck fast.. fella said it'd been like a for a while... Lesson, never buy extendable loppers... least its a lesson I learned a long time since... havin said that, £7.00 you might as well buy half a dozen pair..
  24. What does it matter, get it off amamzon, only takes a day or two
  25. word of mouth, when you do jobs like that, you better be sure each side knows whats being agreed to.. People like to hear what they wanna hear sometimes.. like that woman who convinced herself I was gonna relay her lawn for twenty five quid. "well you said"..... did I now!!!!!...
