  1. Leaves seem to match big bud hickory but could be shagbark. A picture of the bark could confirm it:001_smile:

  3. Looks like hickory to me-carya tomentosa or carya ovata
  4. Oh-i too have the bad habit of not wrapping my thumb round the handle
  5. White finger is due to exposure to vibrating tools over long periods of time.Im no expert on this but to my mind holding a power tool of any description tightly would certainly quicken the onset of w/f.
  6. Anyone any ideas on this one yet
  7. Wouldnt even consider such a thing!
  8. Isnt that like being at home but playing like your at work?
  9. Prepare to be inundated with advice, most good some not so good. Some will promote certain brands of chainsaw, some will go the training and PPE route, which i would advocate. But at the end of it all you might be slightly wiser but a whole lot more confused.Good luck Have fun!
  10. Was gonna start a new thread earlier called one of those days-cause ive just had a proper crap day, where if it could go tits up it did, then i read ollies thread...puts things into perspective.
  11. Sometimes lifes a total ba##!@d,i feel for you mate i really do,a company i sub for sometimes got hit a while back and all the lads were idle for couple of weeks...not good.
  12. Looks great will, only thing i would add,and its only a minor thing is more photos on the gallery.Great going, best of luck
  13. Brilliant:thumbup:
  14. I use the miller komet butterfly, which if you delve into some of the old threads,im sure you'll find some climbers trashing it.I absoloutly love my harness and rate it very highly. Harnessess are very personal;and you may have to shop around till you find that perfect fit for you. I have worked with 2 members of the fairer sex who are ecologists and used treehog harnessess for bat studys and both loved the harness. If your not climbing every day then comfort is not high on the list of nessesities in a harness, but price and functionality is so i totally understand your constraints on price. Good luck finding your special harness partner, when you do you'll just know
  15. Harnessess are a personal choice anyway and vary in opinion from one climber to the next.
  16. No im not, read the whole thread and you ll see what i mean from my comment on 1st page. Ive no experience of treehog harness so cant comment on it.
  17. As i said b4 buy cheap buy twice
  18. Def not rhus genus
  19. Here endeth the lesson
  20. Cant match it too any of the rowans, whitebeams or service..
  21. Been through some books, cant match it to anything.Might some type of magnolia?? Do you have a picture of the bark?
  22. True dat!
  23. I find caritools get caught up alot,i much prefer to use old krabs on my harness for my gear.
