  1. Jensen in my view. Jensen work with one hydraulic motor driving a gearbox with two timed output shafts, one to each feed roller. This way the rollers can have coarse teeth that interlock. All other chippers that I am familiar with have a motor for each roller, and therefore the rollers cannot overlap or the teeth would get damaged. Please correct me anyone, if there are other makes that do it the Jensen way.
  2. Pop group weather here..... Wet wet wet
  3. I have a 2016 Forst TR6 diesel, with low hours, and a 2013 Jensen A540 turntable, again with low hours. The interlocking rollers on the Jensen have formidable pulling/crushing ability, but the Forst is still pretty good. Forst prone to getting bits of conifer build up and stopping the top roller from seating down fully - sometimes can clear it by putting a big log through, but often have to undo the springs to clean it out. I had a bearing fail on the top roller assembly on the Jensen at about 600 hours, surprised by that. Forst are excellent with parts back up and technical advice; Jensen parts take too long, and I have too often had to wait for them to arrive from Germany.
  4. Morning all, Dry here, some blue sky again. Going to load and deliver some woodchip then do a couple of quotes.
  5. Morning all, Another lovely blue sky day here. Day off, going to meet up with some friends from university days. No doubt discuss all our health and joint problems like old gits do.
  6. Morning all, Lovely here just now but heavy rain due within the hour. Quick dead conifer fell it is then.
  7. Morning all, Lovely blue sky day again here. Trimming/shaving a couple of very tall conifer bushes today with the mewp
  8. Morning all, Nice dry day here. Tidying up and collecting timber from last week's job.
  9. Morning all, Back to default setting of rain. Logging in barn and plumbing fix in the house for me.
  10. Morning all, Lovely blue sky here. Blitz time at home today - spot spraying docks, pressure washing patio and paths etc. Then mow the lawns.
  11. I am too lazy to change at present from my opener of audio.
  12. Morning all, Raining here. Had four good days this week and got some good jobs done; I don't work Fridays any more, so crossword here I come.
  13. Best wishes for your op.
  14. In recent years when I have purchased new trailers (IW and Bateson) I pay the extra for ally plate on top of the phenolic plywood. If you intend to keep the trailer for years. and it will have heavy timber chucked in, this eventually damages the plywood so that water can get into it. That said it will still last years. I bought a second hand Meredith and Eyre 16ft triaxle. Good build quality. This just has the phenolic plywood florr, but as it is it really good nick I have some cheap OSB boards that I can put over the floor if it is at risk of damage from loading rough stuff.
  15. I reckon that pic is in keeping with it having ADB
  16. Morning all, Lovely blue sky here with a frost. My face caught the sun quite a bit yesterday, so out with the factor 50 today.
  17. Time for a dip in the sea before work?
  18. Morning all, Lovely blue sky here, forecast good. It said that yesterday but we had an almighty hailstorm, but fortunately only when we were packing up.
  19. I bought a new one in 2015, one of the first of the new shape, 145BHP. Very happy with it and if I had to replace it would have the same again, or a heavier duty one. C section chassis means none of the condensation induced rust you gets with transits etc. Some people say IVECO = It vibrates and everything comes off. While this may be true for some minor trim items it does not apply to the mechanics. Just got back from a week's holiday in southern Italy and there are loads of 25+ year old ones on the roads. The Grafter may boast a good turning circle but the Daily is pretty good on that score, and much better than my previous LDV Convoy (please don't laugh, it was a reliable plodder). Needless to say helper springs are a must with a full chip box.
  20. Absolutely agree with that. Rope every time if on doubt, wedges can only achieve so much.
  21. Morning all, Dry day here. Checked the three conifers for birds yesterday, in a heavy hail storm. Taking them down today. Seize the weather while it lets us.
  22. You can't beat the old axiom: "There be old tree surgeons and there be bold tree surgeons, but there be no bold old tree surgeons". Also, I am old and lazy, so I use my MEWP whenever I can.
  23. Morning all, Was in southern Italy last week, came back yesterday. Wouldn't have got much done work wise if I was here by the sound of things. Just had a brief snow flurry an hour ago, all gone now. Log processing today and next three days look better. I feel so sorry for the local farmers who can't get the slurry stores emptied out on to the land yet etc.
  24. Morning all, Drizzle and damp here. Getting ready for holiday so no outside work today😀
  25. Morning all, Dry here for the day. Going to dismantle and fell a conifer today. Plus side is that it is a very open branch pattern, so I can see there are no birds. Down side is it is one of those itchy ones that always get in your shirt asap.
