  1. Difficult to understand the market sometimes. I had been having less enquiries, like most people reported, but it has picked up again. Lead in time is 6-8 weeks, and I am soon going to have to turn away jobs I would normally want, as I anticipate a knee replacement in November time. The surgeon has said he won't tell me I can't climb if I make a good recovery, just be gentle with it. Can't say I have the youth and energy to be anything but though!
  2. Pleased to hear that from you. Totally identify with that sentiment, I'm more relaxed at work again now.
  3. Morning all, Small local job for a couple of hours as it's not raining! Happy weekend.
  4. Morning all, Mainly day off today. Bit of office work, mowing the neighbours' (yes two of them) lawns later if the grass dries out. Have good weekends all
  5. Morning all, Drizzle all day here. Jungle clearance today, so no need to climb other than a couple of tall laurels. Lots of checking for birds in the lower laurels though.
  6. Morning all, Grey and drizzling here. Dismantling an ash today, at least it is nearby.
  7. Morning all, Sun is hibernating, cats and dogs raining down. Thank goodness for a pile of timber undercover needing logging.
  8. Morning all, Nice here all day according to forecast. Day 3 of 4 on a nice local job. Carpe diem.
  9. If it keeps running all the time it is unlikely to be the pressure sensing switch for the motor, because if that was faulty it would shut the motor off once 2bar is achieved. I think a leak somewhere after the compressor pump is an option, or that the pump is faulty, eg head gasket or flap valves.
  10. You're right in your understanding Doug. Just left me feeling very pissed off. Doesn't help that he lives next door but one, but we managed to agree to differ and decent neighbourly relationship.
  11. Morning all, Sorry not checked in for a bit, felt a bit peed off after trouble with subbie. Got my head back again now. I wonder if Comrad Kier stuck to his word and did not work after 6pm last night as it was a Friday. He kind of set himself up to fail one way or the other with his comments about not working after 6pm as PM🤣
  12. I just don't lend any of my kit that matters to me. Here endeth the lesson.
  13. Should the last photo have a caption "Oops"?🙈
  14. Morning all, Cooled down here too.
  15. Not guilty Mr Eggs.
  16. Afternoon, Even later than Bob. Just needed to take things slowly this morning. Had a good day in most ways yesterday but it was marred by things coming to a head with one team member (subbie) who always thinks very, very differently from me about site safety, and likes to tell customers he is "not risk averse". Won't be working for me again.
  17. Morning all, Blue sky and hot again. Chippings being left on site today, in a lovely shaded are in a copse. Rest of site is open to sun. No fighting over who is chipping please.
  18. Morning all, Another hot one coming and hotter tomorrow. After nearly 8 hours in the mewp yesterday, not in the shade, I am taking it easier today, pottering in the yard. Then full on again tomorrow when hotter, extracting a fallen oak from a gully. Keep the water flowing.
  19. Morning all, Suncream again.
  20. Morning all, Lazy day.
  21. Morning all, Another good day here. As Mick says, seems to be getting busier again now. Who knows what causes these fluctuations in demand for arb work? Nor me for sure.
  22. Morning all, Lovely day again here. Mowing, taking unchippable brash to recycling depot, drinking coffee.
  23. Morning all, Looking good again here. Another day with the mewp, need to remember how to climb soon. Taking suncream to work, whatever next.
  24. Morning all, Beautiful morning here, with 19 degrees forecast, and 23 for next week. Off to do my rescheduled IPAF renewal this morning. I wasn't surprised yesterday to get an email saying the provider's spider lift had a problem, and could I take mine along for the day. In anticipation of just this scenario I had left it on the trailer from the job on Monday. Don't forget the suncream😀
  25. You do have my sympathy with the Iveco problem. Why, oh why, does my 2014 Daily have an ECU for the towbar electrics in the first place, and why, but why, is it positioned right behind the rear wheel waiting for water and salt deposition. Changed the fan belt on my 1975 series 3 Land Rover a few days ago, £4.80 and all is well again. Hope you get the gremlins sorted.
