  1. Certainly not heading for a good half term report at the least. Needs to try harder. Morning all, Frost here too but sunny day ahead, third day on conifer reductions then proper stuff next week.
  2. Morning all, Better weather today hopefully. Got wet and cold yesterday.
  3. So frustrating. I have similar frustrations literally every time my climbing and lowering kit goes in for Loler. Morning all, Conifer hedge reductions today, tomorrow and Thursday.🥱
  4. Morning all, Dry here. Small local job for the morning then pottering.
  5. I assume you are referring to Stoke? If so, I know what you mean.
  6. Time Left: 2 days and 14 hours

This machine was built as a project. We used the multi-tip cutter wheel from a scrapped grinder and my welding friend and I fabricated the very robust adaptor frame to mount it onto my Bobcat E10 minidigger. The digger pins are 30mm diameter. The engine is a 21hp Honda V twin, bought new from my local Honda plant dealer. The bearings that mount the cutter head were replaced, as were the bearings in the belt tensioners. The fuel tank is hinged and swings open to allow access to the battery. The long cable to the digger is for the dead man's switch on the digger. The cutter teeth are multip-tip, which are readily available. Equally they can be sharpened with a diamond wheel on a small grinder. The black mounting cradle the machine sits on is included, as is the wooden dolly beneath it. The cradle has adjustable legs to make it easier to fit the machine onto the digger. The video shows me using it for the very first time. After getting used to it I can operate it a bit more smoothly than in the video.

  7. Morning all, A day of idleness for me today.
  8. Morning all, A tropical 6 degrees this afternoon here, with hardly a breeze.
  9. Happy birthday Ted. Apparently you have reached "The new fifty".
  10. Morning all, Rain due today. Taking down a decent sized silver birch today. Young and sensible lad doing the climbing for this one.
  11. Morning all, Good to talk to you yesterday Pete. No frost but pretty cold. Conifer reduction, hedge trim, and a couple of small maples to clear around BT cable today. Keep warm.
  12. I'm not worried about stinking - we all know tree work + sweat = stinky. I have had to take a break many times when using forecourt petrol for my 2 stroke in larger saws, typically 462 and bigger. Admittedly not a problem off the ground, but can be a real problem when ringing up a large trunk, or the last few slices of a tall stump. My eyes were stinging and watering, and chest felt affected too. Now it's Aspen all the way for me.
  13. Morning all, Late for parade. Set the lads on local hedge job, letting the knee have a gentle day today as bigger job later in the week. I'll take the little tractor along later to move the heavy brash bags up the hill for them!
  14. My Jensen A540 turntable chipper has an overrun/freewheel coupling so that when you turn off the engine the chipping flywheel continues to turn and slow down until stopped. I have not come across any other chippers with an overrun/freewheel before. Can anyone shed light on why Jensen fit this? Also, it is quite a while since I last changed the oil in the freewheel (due to low hours use, not neglect), that I cannot remember exactly what you do to drain the old oil out. I can't find anything online about it, does anybody have the answer? I seem to remember you have to position the freewheel correctly then undo some of the countersunk bolts on the front of it?
  15. Morning all, Dry and frost free here. Odds and sods to do today.
  16. I have the Stihl MS161T and I like it. Easier decision to make if you already have the battery system for other tools. Nice for pruning and early stage of dismantles. I have even sectioned down an eight inch ash stem with it. Light enough for an older, weaker operator like me to reach out one handedly if necessary. My Echo 2511T beats it hands down for power and power to weight ratio.
  17. Morning all, Quiet day for me today, then full steam ahead resumes tomorrow.
  18. Morning all, Quick local quote then go and see my sister and look at ways of reducing her flood risk. She's been flooded twice now.
  19. No such luck, just a Jensen A540 turntable version. Still a good bit of kit though. Just finished doing the sump.
  20. Morning all, Right hand man back next Monday and we return to full steam ahead. Trying a longer wife and dog walk this morning, hopefully find time to put the new sump onto Jensen over the w/e. Have fun, be safe.
  21. Morning all, Was in such as rush to get out and beat the traffic I forgot to sign in. Another senior moment.
  22. Morning all, Sunny day ahead with 10 degrees. Enjoy
  23. Morning all, All thawed out now. Quoting this morning, maybe spannering in afternoon if parts arrive. Pleased to say aorta screening scan all normal. For Doug's edification I can confirm it was a transabdominal ultrasound, but if you're lucky by the time you get yours they may have decided transrectal scanning gets them nearer the aorta!
